I'll premise this with, I am disabled due to a brain aneurysm and explained my financial situation. I called because my vet is closed and their message said to call. Quoted $190.00 Just to be seen! and get an estimate for treatment. I inquired about the "Sampson fund" and was told that I still had to pay the 190 and they ussualy save that for serious cases! not an elderly cat. Then called what I know now to be their sister company in Buzzards bay and the woman who answered the phone there... even worse. Drove past both places all the way to NEW ENGLAND ANIMAL MEDICAL CENTER. 50 miles from my house in Dennis. Where I reside year round. Cost me 110 for visit and full exam. Disempacted by cats rectum, IV fluids, enema and they Vet who also answered the phone for me were super. Total cost was $197.00. Had to drive off cape to save my cat.

Thank goodness for Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists. I came with an elderly German Shepherd in acute pain one weekend years ago and they compassionately put her down as quickly as possible, as per my request, once an ultrasound showed she was bleeding out with cancer.
Since that time I have had my mini-dachsund in for back trouble and kidney problems. The facility is clean, uncrowded and peaceful. To be honest, like other reviewers, I used to find the wait time oddly excessive when no other clients were there, but they seem to be getting better.
As for the cost, all veterinary bills are a shock and this must be anticipated with the responsibility of owning a pet. I really don't think C.C. Veterinary Specialists is higher than the other vets on the Cape, and for that, you have the comfort of knowing they are always open when you need them.

I brought my ferret who's stomach was so huge he could hardly stand and you could see how much pain he was in after i got out of work when i left in morning my ferret was fine and they said oh no sorry we can't help you. There are only two places that will take ferrets and well they are both closed today already so call them in the morning and I begged for them to look at him because I knew he wouldn't make it through the night and they had no sympathy and out ferret died a hour later!!!! Try explaining that to your children!!!!

We went last night at midnight because our dog was having trouble breathing and we were greeted right away but then had to wait an hour, but once we did see the vet, she was great... calm, professional and very helpful at 1:00 am, so glad they were open!

If it's an after-hours emergency, you may well be better off just driving off-Cape, because this place will make you sit there while they wake up the vet on duty and call them in. No vet is going to amaze you with their low prices, but this clinic takes advantage of emergencies to inflict predatory pricing on panicking pet owners. They NEVER work with rescues and never respond in any way to employment applications.
