I have been going to Eagle Lake since 1987; with work buddies, with family & friends, and for many years with my sons. We have stayed at three lodges over the years and Cedar Point is by far the best. The facilities and boats are maintained well. The lake and fishing are spectacular. The staff is great. Pat and his family do everything possible to make your stay memorable. Cedar Point and Eagle Lake are some of the best memories my family has made over the years.

I had mix feelings about my experience at Cedar Point Lodge. First impressions were great, we stayed in the Loon's nest Chalet. Labeled as " our largest and most luxurious chalet". Upon staying there a few days our group of 11 started to notice some issues. They have a washer and dryer, but the washer leaks all over the floor and it has been that way for a while as they basement ceiling indicated. They dryer would not dry, I ended up fixing this by cleaning out the dryer vent pipes. We then noticed small holes in some of our bags of chips and then saw mice running across the floor at night. We lost about $25 in food to the mice before we noticed them. Upon bringing the mice issue up to the owner (Pat) he decided to tell us it was our fault because we left the door open, we did no such thing. I told him that the 2 inch gap under the door might also be an issue. Even with it closed it anything could still come in. In the hot tub room a cedar board was hanging off the ceiling at a 45 degree angle waiting to fall off and hit someone in the head. The bedrooms and bathrooms were nice, nothing super special but still nice. The best place is the loft, fantastic place to spend some down time. The front deck the rails were not sturdy at, if someone were to fall into it they would fall 15 feet into the water. The Wi-Fi is basically dial up speed there is a router in the loons nest but it is fed from the main lodge via a cable that is literally laying on top of the grass and has been hit by the lawn mower a few times.
The speed would be faster if this was done properly. Ok on to the fishing aspect, they boats we nice and big and the motors ran great. We could fit 4 people in a boat no problems. The fish locators are ok nothing special, Just a cheap $60 unit. We had never been to Eagle lake before and we did have nasty rain for the first 2 days of our trip. The owner said he would take us out and show us some spots and give us a guide for a day to show us around the lake, but not in the rain i guess. We arrived on Friday night, and attempted to go fishing on Saturday. Owner kept getting side tracks on pointing out places to try on the map. Every time I would ask he would say in 5 mins and then I could not find him for 20-30 mins. Finally I just decided to go fishing, we caught a few northern and perch but no walleye. Sunday same thing I could not track the owner down it was always around but no where to be found. Sunday the rain stopped in the afternoon and we caught more fish. A decent number of Norther and Perch still no Walleye. We dropped out fish off to get cleaned and brought up to our cabin. They never made it, they offer fish cleaning service for free, but they "lost" about a dozen fish over the week that we were there. Monday no rain beautiful day, finally got to talk to the owner he said he didn't have a guide for us today and that we would have one tomorrow. Tuesday more than halfway through our trip, we finally get shown some decent fishing spots on the lake. The rest of the week with the nice weather and knowing the lake a little better we caught a lot of fish. Eagle Lake is a great fishing lake.
Overall I have mixed feelings about our stay at Cedar Point Lodge. We paid over $100 extra per person to stay in "our largest and most luxurious chalet". The private hot tub was nice to relax in after a day of fishing, but I don't know if it was worth $100 extra per person. The owner seemed to spend most of his time with the regulars that stay there every year and neglect newcomers. Would I stay there again, probably not. I would spend the little extra and stay at a different lodge.

We've been to Cedar Point a few times and my husband has gone there several times over the last 20 years. Great fishing, nice accommodations, good fishing boats, but most of all Pat and Sharon are "great hosts" in that as busy as they are they still find time to make you feel extremely welcome.
