Good quality clean Chinese-American food, right amount of salt and spice. A great deal more like Chinese restaurants on the East Coast. Huge improvement from previous owners, hospitality is improved and they are lightning fast for takeout, would recommend for quick lunch or dinner.

Average at best in my opinion. In the two times we've gone to China House, we were disappointed by what we consider to be poor portion sizes for a Chinese takeout restaurant, as well as food that was minimally acceptable in terms of taste. Our "Chef's Special" General Tso's chicken, which was well above $10 dollars for an order, was lukewarm upon delivery to our table, in addition to being overly sweet and taking the form of mostly breading. On the other hand, they have a proper dining room that is lush and comfortable! China House is okay, but I think Iowa City has better options, so unless you're confined to this part of town/work or live next door, there may be better options available.

Cheap, tasty and flavorful!
On a student’s budget, or otherwise, this is one of the best places in Near Iowa CIty to have Chinese’s food. They are authentic and have not Americanized their dishes.
I love all their appetizers.
Delivery becomes a bit expensive ( of course), so we prefer to dine in or a pick up.
Definitely recommend this place.

We enjoyed our take out. Lo mein, veggie egg rolls, etc. Sichuan bean curd was soft, tasty.

Great food, wonderful service. The plates were sharing sized so there was plenty to go around. The inside is nicely decorated but parts of it look like they haven’t been used in a while (the buffet) and need some updates (bathroom). But still a nice place to eat.
