Good place, but it's coverage on some TV shows, and the collection of VIP pictures on the wall might lead you to believe this place is unmatched in town. Don't get me wrong, it's worth a stop, but don't get overly excited or think it's a "can't miss" Iowa City destination. Several trips to this restaurant have left me underwhelmed. Average burgers, store-bought buns, frozen crinkle fries, and coleslaw (pretty sure from a jar) are uninspired in a town like Iowa City which has so many other great food options, and make me ask "what's the fuss about." Although their website and some locals might convey this place as legend, it's nothing to get cranked-up about. It's a solid local burger place that may be a little big in its britches. To their credit, it's a pretty affordable meal and the old dining room is quite cozy (love the booths), and their biscuits and gravy are a solid bet at under $6.00.

Very 'cozy quarters and very busy place this Sunday morning. Great food options to please everyone. I had sweet potato pancakes with pecans and loved them. Staff was prompt with keeping coffee topped off and warm. Worth the 25 min wait.

LOVED the sides! particularly cheese curds, fried mushrooms, and the sweet potato fries,. The burgers I'd most recommend are mushroom & Swiss, or if you want something more intense, jalapeno, I always get the Red Velvet Cake Pie Shake, the best in my preference, Staff is BEYOND friendly! They've even let me sub appetizers as sides, the place itself is a great piece of the town, (lots of vintage 40's-50's-60's decor) and the country's history, as a bunch of presidents dined here. the pricing is definitely reasonable for this level of quality, and I'd say the wait for food is relatively quick to other places like this. A real piece of Iowa, a real piece of America, a real place of love (obviously the tasty kind).

It is one of my fiance's and mine favorite places to eat breakfast or brunch. All their food is good but our favorites are the pancakes and eggs Benedict. The staff is always super friendly and if you are in the mood for ice cream and pie I would really recommend the pie shakes. It can be busy some morning but others it can be pretty calm and quiet. It is definetly a place for a family to eat together! Not a huge place but it is still nice and the inside decorations are kind of corky.

Their food was good, which is sad because the service was horrific! Their were only five customers in the restaurant. Five to six plus employees were sitting, standing around talking, doing nothing! We had to ask for a waitress, we had to ask for water again! No one came back ever to ask us how our meal was. We had to flag down someone/anybody to get a side of ranch, which was thin as water.. didn't even touch it, and yet we sure got charged for it! The only time they came to our table without being asked to was to drop the ticket off to pay! Pathetic/Poor management!!!!
