They seem to be doing the best they could with so MANY animals... I walked in and out with my new companion within an hour. Other animal rescues I went to took me that long to even talk with someone. This is the place to start.. thankful that people care enough to be there. They need more Help. More food. More puppy pads . More people to be involved...
This place is over crowded with animals. That's understandable, but the staff seem so unconcerned about the people the people that come in to check out the animals. One dog growl and try to bite my wife when she put the back of her hand to the fence. I spoke with a lady and she said, "it's okay the dog has to warm up to you." NO, NO, NO...we had that experience before when we got a dog from there and the staff immediately went to remove the dog for safety purposes. We went somewhere else and got a beautiful puppy!!
They have a huge building and don't rush you at all. They have little outside areas where the dogs can meet through a fence at first. We drove 4.5 hours and we didn't regret it, not once did we say it was a wasted trip.
A big thank you for incredible kindness and patience when I adopted out Gypsy formerly Olyviah last week. Amy and Mandy especially answered all my questioned and made me feel welcome. We are so thankful for the tough job you all do each day.
These people are awesome and truly helpful as well as Richland County Animal Control! TNR is something I am big on and they are so caring with helping me make sure all the ferals in my colony are cared for.. Leroy from RCAC is beyond understanding and I will always have nothing but positive things to say about him and Ms. Marli! PLEASE ADOPT from here! Don't go to these fake nonprofits that charge outrageous prices... THIS IS WHERE YOU SHOULD ADOPT your newest furbaby! Great place and they DO NOT put PIT BULLS to sleep as people always like to say... They are almost 100% no-kill and I will ONLY recommend these guys!
I called and asked about turning in a cat that was in danger from the neighbor dogs and they told me to come there and I did and they “new” guy in the surrender desk said he wouldn’t take her and to just turn her loose in a different neighborhood. It wasn’t my cat and it was dumped in our neighborhood.Or take to a kill shelter he said. What are these places for if they aren’t going to help these poor animals.? So sad.
I found a cute puppy for my daughter... I named him "Greyson"
My dog Sadie. In her past life she was owned by Harry Houdini, so she loves to play games, and book herself into the shelter afterwards, it's her favorite hotel knowing the staff will treat her with care , and daddy will come pick her up, she's the number 1 resident this year. But she's the most silliest dog ever, and so full of love. This is her favorite shelter and she's knows all the staff personally. Yes the staff are absolutely amazing, and thank y'all for putting up with the plight of Sadie and her shannanigans. 1st class animal shelter.
My sister and I adopted a pit mixed. Awesome experience. They can use more help though.
