Columbus Police Department

We have an amazing police department. I recently took the Citizens Academy and hold our local law enforcement in the highest regard. I have read many of the negative reviews and it is sad. If you had a bad experience, realize that you have no idea what these officers go through on a daily basis. Their lives are legitimately on the line every single day. That's not just a cliche saying, it's the truth. No one realizes how much they do for us, even if you never interact with them. We live in an above average safe city and I am thankful for all they do. I urge you to one, think about what they go through when you are interacting with them, and two, take the citizens academy. It's not only free, it's fun and informative!

Called police twice in Oct 18 for a violent domestic dispute going on out in street .. involving one man and several women all were extremely violent also were driving car trying to run each other over as well as threatening others up and down the blick all while lots of neighbors and children outside trying to enjoy the day...both times officers showed up and did nothing..leaving our street on edge angry and frustrated...with no trust in the police or they're capability of protecting those they are supposed..completely disgraceful on the departments end on how they handled the whole situation..such a disappointment..was a complete waste of time calling them... they in all effect left an entire neighborhood hostage to the events and people involved

Extremely disappointed in several police officers and one in particular. He has twice been highly insensitive to a female’s fear and intimidation from a neighborhood man.

The Officer I encountered just passing through this city treated me like I was a convicted murderer just for a minor traffic violation. He totally humiliated me in front of my wife and kids. I reported it to his patrol supervisor but who knows if anything will be done. I will never visit the city of Columbus again after this incident. I was one of the biggest police supporters I know but this Officer has really made me question some of my beliefs.
