I have loved living at Commerce Tower. I am so sad to leave my apartment and the only reason I didn’t renew is because I am moving out of state. If I could pick up this place and take it with me I would. The staff are the nicest and most helpful of any apartment I have ever lived at and they are willing to do whatever they can to make living there the best it can be. The building is super secure and incredibly dog friendly some of the security guards even give dogs treats when they walk by. I highly recommend signing a lease here!!
Not sure why these negative ratings of this awesome place. I had a 23rd floor view of the Missouri River and some of the most beautiful midwest sunsets I have ever seen. The walls are thick and can hardly hear anyone which was perfect. The place is amazing and located just a few blocks from power and light district and a couple blocks from river market. Also, the street car picks up and drops off right in front of the the building. I survived Covid here and will always hold a strong place in my heart. I loved Commerce and above all, I loved our office manager Caleb who was incredible. Thank you Commerce!
Completely fed up. Do not move here! After two years of living, paying rent on time each month. It has truly become an unlivable environment. Between pet urine EVERYWHERE and security guards who take and eat the food residents me have ordered, it is not a safe place to live. Not to mention that in winter, you're just expected to deal with the weather that seeps in. And unhoused individuals hanging out in the lobby sue to inactive security. Completely unlivable.
One of the best places I've ever rented. I rent a beautiful apartment on the 13th floor with a view of main street and the cityscape. Unbelievable bang for my buck. The street car stops right in front of the building which makes the free transportation even more convenient, the security staff is friendly and helpful, and the building is always exceptionally clean and well maintained.
Horrible experience. Moving out of here was the best choice I ever made. Security stole my car jack, there was always urine in the elevators, and the entire buildings fire alarms went off multiple times during the night waking everyone up for almost an hour at a time. Now that I’ve left they refuse to mail me my contacts that were incorrectly shipped there after living there for 10 months and paying them tens of thousands of dollars.
Terrible management. The alarms go off repeatedly and no one cares. Wakes you uo in the morning for hours and disrupts your sleep. Do not move here. Went in the office on Thursday around 3 and the lady in there was extremely rude and not helpful. She was just hanging out with some guys in the office and when i left they all started loudly talking about me and laughing.
We have been here for 3 years. We have witnessed a few changes with security and management. The pandemic definitely had an effect on everything. Overall, the experience has been good. We enjoy living here. The location is one of the largest amenities that isn’t typically discussed. Access to the street car has made downtown living extremely enjoyable. Everything seems to be within walking distance. If we have to drive, we have immediate access to the interstate making drive times minuscule. There are small items that keep me from giving a full 5 stars. But overall, this is our home and we do recommend downtown living if you like to walk and have easy access to what the city has to offer.
For the amount of rent we pay it is frustrating to have breakdowns of appliances to be replaced by other, problematic appliances that break down and require maintenance within a few weeks. It doesn’t help when my current dishwasher has been broke for 3 weeks with no word on when they will replace/fix it. Key fob for our door has never worked and management gave us traditional keys to avoid replacing the electronic lock. Have issues and want a follow up? Don’t bother, management won’t respond in a timely manner and will act frustrated with your inquiries. When the pool opened after months of being locked yet filled, they allow less than 20 residents in 2 hour slots at a time. Good luck trying to reserve a weekend time and they will kick you out, even if you’re no where near other people. I started touring other apartments in July and all others had pool open to max capacity for residents. This is by far the worst apartment experience in my life, and I have contemplated breaking my lease and paying the fines. Do NOT sign here! I cannot fit the amount of issues into one review, but this is certainly the biggest mistake I have made since moving to KC. 09/03/20 Response: Thank you for reaching out. I look forward to meeting with the community manager at the end of our lease to discuss this in more detail. Also, our dishwasher is broken again no water. We have had 11 work orders in ~13 months excluding ongoing issues with the key fob and clothes washer to put things into context with how frustrating these recurring issues are. 2022 Update: Saw this in my old reviews and remembered….Management never reached out after their initial response to schedule a meeting about our experience. They didn’t care. Commerce Tower was my biggest regret of my KC experience. Live somewhere else, there’s plenty of better apartments in KC.
We absolutely loved living here until the new management took over- going on 3 years. Since the transition we have had countless issues with security, or the lack thereof, and even more issues with management. There are a few members that are helpful and easy to work with, but the manager/assistant manager should be taking notes from their subordinates on how to operate in a professional and accommodating manner. . .or if accommodating is too much for them, responsive would be nice. We tried numerous times to express our concern and unfortunately our needs were never met or even addressed. This is not to mention the MANY issues within the community: random people being let into the wrong apt., used tampons on the ground, pee soaked patios, stolen mail, blood splatters on the ground, and faulty amenities to name a few. Location is great but there's MUCH better to chose from. My advice to you is to keeeeep scrolling.
I have had a great experience here at Commerce Towers so far. The buildings and amenities are cool. The people who work at the front desk right when you walk in are so unbelievably friendly and helpful! I encourage everyone to at least check this place out
