Nice trail system here with some steep climbs. Trails in this park connect with trails in Round Valley State Park and Pickell Park (Readington Twp park) for some even longer hikes.

Great nature trails that are challenging due to their elevation changes

As far as mountains go in New Jersey, this one is definitely not one that you would like to miss, especially because of it's unique location. The trail to the top is steep and tends to zig-zag slightly, as it makes it's way to top. The trail consists of mostly of dirt with some grass, dirt and stones. The stone range in size from smaller than a pebble to giant boulders This is something that any would-be climber should take into consideration when looking for a stable place to place your foot. - the stones. The small ones are prone to collapsing back down the hill when you try to step on them The trail is very steep at parts, but requires nothing more than hiking boots, something to drink, determination and maybe a walking stick to reach the top. Unfortunately, because of the large amounts of trees in the area, there are few (if any) spots which offer any kind of panoramic vista in which to gaze upon... but don't let that discourage you, the view from the top of the mountain of the reservoir looking down upon the reservoir. It is something amazing, let me tell you.

Great place for hiking, I would say the trails are moderate to semi-difficult. Numerous trails to wander about the woods and down to Round Valley Resevoir.
