Del Pez Mexican Gastropub - Wilmington

Ate at Del Pez after having a bad experience at another local restaurant in Wilmington. We walked in and were sat immediately by a very friendly hostess. Service was a little slow, and our waitress claimed she didn't see us at our table which was a little off-putting. After that, the service was then great and the food was delicious. Drinks that don't contain tequila are a little pricey but that's what you get when you go to a Mexican joint (not complaining, just an observation.) Would recommend.

Menu is good, our food was great and was so quick! We stopped by after a walk on the riverfront and will definitely be back, me for the tacos, him to try out more of the beer options. Our waitress was awesome as well as the rest of the staff that assisted us through the night. Update : another wonderful evening at Del Pez! Madeleine was or server again. Not only is she the best server they have, she remembered my normal drink order and did a special order from the kitchen for me. On Easter, so I'm dropping her name. Hopefully you'll get lucky enough to have her as your waitress!

I've now been to Del Pez for brunch, lunch, and dinner, but I don't think we'll be returning. The food is actually pretty good, but the service is a complete grab bag. In our most recent visit, the server kept on forgetting to bring items to the table (the hot sauce was finally delivered after I finished my meal), and the kitchen was in such bad shape that my son's meal didn't come out until 15 minutes after my wife and I finished our meals. I expected that, at a minimum, the manager would have taken his meal off, but no consideration was made. For as many legitimate Mexican restaurants are around, you can do much better for a lower price.

Cute place. Food was good but not outstanding. Wait staff was effective and attentive. All-in-all, I would go back but it probably won't become one of my "go-tos".

Gas-tro-pub, yo! I'm loving it. Great, fun food. Foodie? Get down here. Don't know what a gastropub is? Skip the googling and skip over for a visit. And cocktails galore! If you work, or live nearby it's a great place to chill with friends for drinks and awesome munchies. A regular on our dining list.
