You want authentic? This is the place. Aguas frescas, homemade tortillas, Pozole, Puerto cascabel...can't wait to go back. First had a sample of their food at Segundo Lab inside of Ironworks. Food was so good I asked where they got it from and he said Doña Chelas on 76th.Food: 5/5
I personally had a great experience here. Full Mexican Authentic food. I got fajita and a quesadilla. Pros: Food is warm and has great taste. Meat is soft and handmade tortillas are delicious. Waitress are very Polite. They do have a great Variety of Menu. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Sauce looks watery but it tastes good it is spicy. Music is not loud. Cons: Parking is very limited. I went on a Sunday evening not packed Prices are fair, definitely worth it Overall It’s a great Family Owned business! I would definitely come again and maybe try the Breakfast.
The food here was really good and authentic. They have many Mexican options, including all day breakfast. I particularly enjoyed the tortillas which seem to be made on site, and the barbacoa. My only complaint is that our server kind of gave up on us halfway through our stay; I'm not sure of the reasoning. Likely to come again.
This is definitely a hidden GEM in this little Mexican dominated population side of town. I have had Menudo, Tacos Barbacoa my favorite breakfast or Lunch is great here. Wait staff like they were trained in Mexico or Guatemala, very attentive and super quick. The only downside is size of location and parking gets tough. Please go visit if you on this side of town I say for sure breakfast is the higher level and prices are balanced.
A local spot that is certainly worth a hop and skip to enjoy what they offer. Will keep it as a phone in and carry out place as well. Certainly enjoyed the value of this place. It was also decorated for the season which was nice to see.
The food tastes just like home made by your mexican grandma, the service is homey and the place is in the middle of the most iconic Avenue in one of the oldest latino neighborhoods of Houston
The food is pretty decent, if you don't feel like cooking & you want Mexican food close to the house... this place is recommended
Nice, Mom & Pop vibe nestled in this East End community. I had an appointment in the area and asked one of the locals where I could go for authentic tacos or good lunch. Without hesitation he suggested Dona Chela... It was everything I hoped it would be. Quaint, Quick & Homemade!! Glad I speak spanish porque la senora no habla ingles pero no problema. If I'm on this side of town again I will definitely be back to try the fajitas y tamales.
The food and the service was excellent
Little Hispanic hole in the wall. Kind of expensive for tacos but they are big and filled. Ashley took my order and suggested some items that I liked and made it better.Food: 4/5
