Down Home Kitchen

I'm on a trip visiting family and we went to this place for late brunch/lunch. Not a first for my family, but a first for me and it was darling and delicious! I had the blackened fish sandwich. Our server suggested the plantain chips as a side and I was pleasantly surprised! (I'm not typically a plantain fan) They were great! The biscuits were bomb too! Oh, and I had the gin berry cocktail which was darlingly presented. Loves this farm to table, hip joint! Everyone in our group of 6 were very, very satisfied!

I'm a regular customer at Down Home, and I have to say every aspect of eating here is always stellar. People remember me and my dad, they're the friendliest staff, the food is always fantastic (especially the Sunday specials), and the atmosphere is so welcoming. The only thing that I'll say would make Down Home an even better place, is if I knew the employees felt as welcomed and valued there as I do. Thanks for all your hard work guys! You make the magic happen

Found the best Chicken & Waffles I have ever had in the most unexpected place, Montpelier, VT. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the restaurant itself was very nicely decorated. I can't wait to go back and try a few different things.

Excellent diner with fantastic food, a comfortable counter with good beers on tap; a beautiful interior that is vibrant and modern but not stuffy; plenty of long wooden tables and extremely friendly service. One of a kind.

Cute restaurant. I had the blueberry pancakes, which were classic and delicious. We also tried the chicken and waffles, and chicken fried steak. The chicken and waffles with the cornbread waffle was different. I think the cornbread didn't provide the contrast that a normal waffle would. The chicken, egg, and greens piled on top of the waffle was too much savory and not enough sweet. A classic waffle with the fried chicken and a side of Vermont syrup would be amazing! The greens definitely have to go. The egg could work. My buddy really enjoyed the chicken fried steak. He said the greens were a little tangy but enjoyable. Overall good experience.
