Downtown Natural Market

Today May 2 2018 .. I walked in to one of your supermarkets located in Jackson heights with a friend of mines and was followed around the store by a sale associate... while other customers are asking for help an trying to gather their items, I’m being followed down each lane as if I was a criminal and I can’t even begin to explain to you how low that made me feel ... I am a customer of color and have lived in the area for more then 20 plus years.... I am in the minority of my neighborhood being that it’s dominated by whites and Latin American. But I have never experienced a sales associate stop what it is that they are doing an start lurking behind me .... I’m very displeased with my visit to your store an hope that a conversation to your establishment employee would reveal that people of color should not be labeled a criminal but a customer

DISCRIMINATION, OVERPRICED INSANELY DOWNSIZES PRODUCTS RANT: Usually I come here to shop for my vegan foods/products because it is the only and closet supermarket that caters to my lifestyle needs near me. However, I have always noticed how their foods and products are pretty over priced and when I would get home and open the items (typically most boxed or bagged food items) , they would be half full or way less than half full. This situation has always infuriated me and I began to like this store less and less. Well, today was the last straw and finally voiced my opinions to the manager. I went with my friend and my mom to this store to buy some ice cream, when my friend came up to me and tells me that he was racially profiled from the time he walked in the store, with an employee following him from aisle to aisle as if he was going to steal something. Mind you, this was the first time my friend has been to this store, he is a dark skinned male American/ Barbados, my mom is a dark skinned hispanic, and I am a light skinned hispanic. I decided not to buy the ice cream and go to Traders Joe's instead. But instead, I walked right back into the store and spoke to the manager about their prices and what they did to my friend, which was absolutely NOT RIGHT. I WILL NOT COME BACK TO THIS STORE AGAIN!!!!

It’s a nice store But a little bit pricey for the neighborhood. Yes.

Great service, huge selection of organic and vegan food. They also have vitamins and holistic meds.

This market was my savior, of sorts. There I was, in the middle of Queens, in need of some good, organic produce for dinner, but finding only "normal," non-organic groceries -- until I spied Downtown Natural Market. There, my losing streak ended as I was met by an array of quality organic goods, including foods and drinks and frozen fare, and even a surprisingly complete supplement section, all crammed comfortably into an NYC-sized facility (with a bathroom, even!). In the end, I got my sought dinner fixin's and proceeded to be checked out by a cool and friendly cashier, without issue. Then, satisfied, I was on my way. Good stuff. Big thanks to all the fine folks of this store. You are greatly appreciated :)
