Fantastic system of trails, with several choices for length, including an 8.5 mile loop. The trails also hooks up with the Lumberjack Trail. The Escanaba Trail provides gorgeous wooded stretches, bogs, and a few stunning lake views. Lots of walking along ridges in the woods, so there are a few steep inclines (but nothing really too challenging). I found nothing expert about the red loop, aside from its 8.5 mile length; stay hydrated! You'll be driving along a couple of dirt roads to get to the trailhead, but don't worry; GPS will bring you there without issue. Well worth the visit!
Vault restrooms are a short walk from the parking lot.

Great hiking trail. Not very busy at all and good terrain change. Not technical but a good workout. Also met Mr porcupine which was a pleasure, he was a curious little guy.

Nicely groomed trails. Somewhat hilly, but lots of fun. Beautiful!

Really nice trail for hiking or biking. Different loops allowed for different trip lengths. The little shelter is really cool and worth the trip. A $5 trail pass is required but you can buy it at the self service station at the trailhead. If you are really ambitious, you can transfer over to the Lumberjack trail and go for almost 20 miles.

Enjoyed the trail...did the blue loop. The last part of the trail by the parking lot is extremely dangerous...not wide enough to snowplow and the hill is steep.WALK DOWN!!
