If you only have one night in Portland this is the place to eat. If you like raw oysters, they were so clean and fresh at Eventide. The special ices we're unique and complimented the oysters perfectly.
I've had quite a few lobster rolls in Portland and this was better than the rest for sure. First it's a buttered lobster which I just love. Second, the bun is steamed like you find in Asian dishes but still thicker and split top like a traditional lobster roll. I have to stop myself from ordering another every time.
I've had some other dishes too and they have all been just as amazing. Everything is fresh and has a fun twist without being crazy or overpowering. Just subtle flavors that compliment each other in a way that makes you wonder why everyone doesn't do it this way.
Do yourself a favor and go. The service is great and so is the food.

Eventide came highly recommended so we were excited to try it. Went on a Friday for lunch. We just beat the main lunch rush, but still were sardined at the bar along the window. Fair enough they want to fit in as many people as possible, but dining cramped shoulder to shoulder and knee to knee with strangers is not ideal.
Waiter came after a longer than usual wait to give us menus and explain the dishes are mostly small plates. Been to many similar places but he was not kidding about the size. The lobster roll, while very good, was bite sized. For 15 dollars would expect a little more. Also ordered fried oysters which were delicious but also tiny. Maybe 5 small bits. We decided not to order any more. For 2 lobster rolls, one order of fried oysters and one soda we paid over 50 bucks. There are many other excellent options in town and wouldn't waste time here just because they aesthetics are above average.

Had an amazing experience here. The waitresses were super warm and friendly. The oysters were amazing. I also had the clam chowder and of course the lobster roll. Everything is quite small but jam packed with flavor. And their cocktails are also amazing

Great date night dinner! The wait was about 30 minutes on a cold Tuesday, so definitely a place in high demand! Staff super friendly and gave great advice about what to try-for two people we went with one of the daily specials plus two lobster rolls and a whoopie pie for dessert, which was plenty. We left satisfied, not stuffed!

We only had a night in Portland, so we went here for dinner. Eventide serves very good but not universally excellent food. Standouts are the lobster stew and the special soft shell crab, which should always be on the menu. Oysters are delicious and cleeeeeean! Brown butter lobster roll was underwhelming and forgettable, as was the clam chowder. The soft shell crab was the clear standout. Crispy and crunchy and meaty and like no soft shell crab I've had. Wonderful desserts, too. The ice cream sandwiches are the bomb. Friendly service and good drinks. All the hype led me to believe this would be wall-to-wall amazing. It's not, but most of it was very, very good. Recommended, but avoid the lobster roll.
