I had the Brisket Dinner and it was great! Nice deep smoke ring on the brisket! Had the Collard Greens which were amazing and was surprised when I found out that they use Turkey in their greens instead of bacon but they were outstanding! Also had the Fried Ocra which was okay. Ordered a side of Fried Onion Rings and they were also outstanding! Would have given this place five stars but I seen the owner slice my brisket and then heat it in the microwave. I understand keeping your product chilled to avoid heat stress and waste but I would hide the fact of microwave reheating. Overall great BBQ will definitely eat here again! Update: I stand corrected, they use micro steamers! Thanks for the info! I have updated this BBQ to 5 stars! Will definitely be back!
Great great place to eat a solid BBQ meal. They have a solid staff that is on point and friendly. Amazing food that makes you feel like you can go home and take a great nap. Over all 10/10
On a quick day trip from South Dakota. We wanted to have a eat something we don't always get to experience, and we love BBQ. We had a great feast, and will definitely be back again. Staff was awesome.
This place is my greatest sin, normally I am a careful eater and watch my intake and calories- but every month or so I get that Fat Shack itch. I dip in, get the Shack Attack, then go home and pass out for the weekend. The food is made when you order it so just kick back and wait a second, and make sure you order some of the sausage.
This literally is my favorite place to dine & bring family/friends in Omaha. Every time I come in town to visit I try to bring a new person there with me so they can experience their awesome atmosphere, friendly staff and the famous "Shake Attack"
Just drove in from Memphis, TN and told my father in law who lives in the area that I really wanted a good brisket sandwich for lunch. He said “there’s a little place that we could get a good sandwich and if I wanted something else they have a great variety.” To me every good meal starts with “there’s a little place.” I was not disappointed, as we pulled up to this little place. In reality when we walked in it was not the same “little place” that he had last visited. They have apparently expanded and have a very nice and very clean dining area. I was amazed at all of the listed items on the menu, I didn’t come in for healthy, but had I, it’s all there. Salads and soups and from natural ingredients to boot. All that having been said, I asked who was the Fat part of the name and it just happened that the owner was who I asked and he said that’s me! I mentioned I’m a Memphis BBQ guy, but we don’t cook much brisket and I hoped that this was really good brisket. He proceeded to cut me some slices of meat that stand up to any I’ve had from Texas to North Carolina. He also thought I should try his ribs since we are known for our baby backs in Memphis and he wanted my opinion. I have to say, I was impressed. This is my first time to review any place as I don’t really ever feel compelled to do so but this place was deserving!
Ever since moving to Omaha, my wife and I have been wanting to find BBQ that compared to the many great BBQ places that we love in Kansas City. After finally getting to try out Fat BBQ Shack it looks like we found our new favorite. Don't be fooled by looks. When you first pull up you notice that it is just a strip mall and the decorations look more like a chain BBQ place. However, once you get your food you realize this is not your average Famous Dave's. We started our with the shack attack which is basically BBQ nachos on top of fries. It was surprisingly good but the food only got better. We also tried the rib tips, and smoked turkey. The tips were solid and were great with the sweet BBQ sauce. However, the turkey was maybe the best turkey I've ever had. The meat was super juicy and tender and the flavor was very smokey but well balanced. For sides we fries, cornbread, mac n cheese, and collard greens. All were very tasty but the mac and cornbread were especially good. All in all we were very happy with our meal. Can't wait to go back and try the brisket and okra. If you like BBQ and haven't been to fat BBQ shack yet, change that. I don't think there is a better BBQ joint in Omaha.
Excellent place. I had a 3 meat combo and the meat was delicious. Memphis ribs were good, but not much meat on them. Mac and cheese was kind of bland by itself. My friend had the bacon mac n cheese brisket burger with jalapenos and onion strings. She declared it to be the best burger she has ever had and wants all of her burgers to be chopped brisket burgers from now on. I will definitely be recommending them to my guests from now on.
First visit today, absolutely delicious! It was my cheat day on my diet and I wanted BBQ! I got the Texas Brisket with fries and a drink. Absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Will definitely return on another cheat day.
I changed this rating from 3 to 4 after Cary's response and more thought. First, the food is great. It's always been on point. The service is usually the issue. Wait times are usually 25-30 minutes for a to-go box. Being great BBQ, I don't mind waiting. This visit though, there was an unusually long wait and after getting home, realizing I didn't receive anything that I actually had ordered. The food is 5 out of 5. The service just needs a bump.
