This memorial to New York City's brave firemen is a beautiful tribute to those men (and their horses) who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Each year firemen from all over come here to pay their respects and place flower wreaths.

It is located at the end of West 100th Street on Riverside Drive and can be approached from several ways up stairs or directly from Riverside Drive and 100th Street. 

There are a few marble benches you can sit on and the area has lots of green parks. The area is close to Riverside Park and surrounding the monument are green spaces, walking paths, and varied trees and shrubs with Hudson River views and westerly sunsets.

A nice calm place to rest, in honor of a great cause. There are wide steps and a large fountain with two large marble benches.
