First impression was the last impression. Enjoy this lesson in what customer service is not. I was searching a few weeks online for a very specific bass guitar online and had a very hard time finding it so I reached out to actual company of Ernie Ball. The staff there was amazing and they helped me to locate two of the only possible stores that may have had this bass in stock. As you guessed it this was store number two. I called and spoke to the owner Benji P. which came off as a used car salesman but I didn’t mind since I had dealt with other music stores across the US. He said he didn’t have a new version but had a friend with a very good condition bass that he could get to me. I’m like awesome I’m going to finally get this bass that was impossible to find. But it is the weekend and Benji will not be back on until Tuesday. I call again and reach him but I have questions about the bass. He wanted to sell it for $1300 but there basses of higher quality and upkeep online for $950-1100 online so I told him we would need to negotiate the price. This is where the attitude started over the phone. He stated “I’m not some craigslist seller and I have been doing this for a longtime” as into imply that there is no such thing as a crooked business owner. I asked for photos and got them. The bass had a small ding on it which he told me about so I could care less but it the bass had dust and dirt on it. Additionally there were zero pictures of the neck from a side angle, back, or the frets. Now I don’t own a music store but I think those are important things to show which it didn’t so I asked him “How is the neck?” and his attitude got even worse. “What do you mean? That should answer itself. I wouldn’t sell someone a bass with a messed up neck!” I asked him why he was getting agitated and if he was having a bad day and he continued on his rant about his credibility. I told him I needed to think about and to give me a day. He said “You have my number” and hung up on me. Here are the key points: 1. I went looking for his company which I didn’t know even existed until last week which he could care less about. 2. As a business owner you should know what pictures should be taken of an instrument and not use something of cellphone quality to do so. 3. Ranting about how you own a business does not make someone an angel. 4. If someone looks for you to pay you $1300 when you are a complete stranger you should be slightly nicer to them. You don't have to kiss their butt but if they ask you how your weekend is then you should have the same level of respect. Thank you but no thank you. I’m glad you pointed me in the direction of music store live. Max helped me a ton with my order.
