Golden Bee

My son and his wife just moved near the Broadmoor, and on a lovely evening recently, we walked over to experience the Golden Bee. The surroundings are breathtaking, and sitting on the patio outside was lovely. The food, however, fell far short of our expectations. The server recommended their burger, which sounded awesome. My son and I got the potpie which was the weekly night special. Both the burger, fries, and potpie were VERY disappointing, and despite the small quantity, we were disinclined to finish the meal. We saw several tables returning their meals to the kitchen. This was an incredibly expensive meal which was in line with a low rate fast food diner. In addition, the $14 drinks, while flavorful, were filled with ice . I believe the Golden Bee was once a great destination in a lovely location in Colorado Springs. It is now an over priced shell of its former self.

Absolutely fell in love with this place! Our bartendar was super sweet and attentive. We were lucky enough to hear an 11 year old play the piano & sing (Lexy was Amazing!) We got the Arugula Salad & Fish n Chips, both were a Grand Slam. We even caught our Bees!

When you sit down they throw a bee on you. Way cute and fun. The smothered fries are huge! The fried pickles are also a pretty large serving. The wait staff was excellent and friendly. VERY REASONABLE PRICES.

A tradition ruined... A group of my friends go to The Golden Bee at least once a year for the matriarch's birthday. In the past I've left reviews that were good (albeit honest about the ridiculous cost of the drinks) but this time my gripe goes beyond just overpriced alcohol. We had 13 people in our party and sat right near the piano man (who was fantastic throughout the evening) on a Friday night. All my concerns are based on poor service on a relatively slow night. I've been there when it was packed to the brim and had a better server. During the course of 5 hour birthday celebration I was served one drink (my first of four rounds total) at the table by giving the man my drink order; The rest of the time I either had to approach him by going to the drink station or bypassing him altogether by bellying up to the bar. I found out very quickly that I was being charged 20% gratuity for the two transactions that I paid for individually, separate from the party (at the bar) because I couldn't get the server to properly serve me. Other members of our party had issues with the service as well and one of them even ended up pulling aside the manager for service/food issues. 3 of my 4 drinks were not even close to what I would consider to be a $14 beverage. If he couldn't smell the dissatisfaction at our table he shouldn't be a manager. The place is beautifully decorated and a fun environment for this annual tradition but I'm fairly certain that we will be going elsewhere in the future.

My husband and I spent our 6th anniversary here at the Golden Bee and it was the best service I've ever had anywhere. It's super easy to get to and the parking lot is easy to get in and out of. Place is very classy and my cornmeal fried pork with butter beans were wonderful. Staff adds the 20% tip to your bill but we tipped extra just because we had such a nice experience.
