My daughter went to hs on governors island and so i got to visit both during the summer while it is open to the public and during fall/winter when it is closed to the public. it is a beautiful island. they built a nice park there for kids. always have great events for families, and there is a small farm with animals. many vendors are available to purchase food and portable bathrooms for those times you need to go. you can rent a surrey or bike or bring your own bike. There is lots to do there

Just a short ferry ride and you're away from the hustle of NYC. The view are amazing. Great for picnics and other recreational activities. Bikes are available for rent of all designs. 2 person and 4 person bikes as well. It is easily walkable and has an amazing view of new York city's lower Manhattan skyline. The statue of liberty is also within a close viewing proximity.

A $3. Dollar ferry ride affords some spectacular views of lower Manhattan and Lady Liberty. Safest place in the city for a bike ride rentals available or bring your own bike on the ferry. Excellent picnic spot or there are dining options on the island.

Governors Island is a beautiful, serene, scenic place. There is a museum, formerly a prison, historic mansions, brick streets and you can see the NYC skyline and the Statue of liberty. Wear comfortable shoes. Be prepared for lots of walking and bring water. Food and drinks are not readily available throughout the island. Only designated area. Great place to relax.

Great getaway with extraordinary views! A beautiful park with wonderful activities. One can now enjoy the breathtaking views at night as the island is open until 10pm on Fridays throughout the summer. A must do!
