I would give this place an 8/10. The architecture of the building is the Tudor Revival English style. It's a gorgeous building built in 1931 and I always loved coming home. It really is fun to look at all the various accents and what not all over the place. It is an older building, but it has character and class. Moving into the building is easy because there is a service elevator that backs out right into the alley. Property management: The property managers can make or break a living experience. I can say that the team here is great. Paige, Jose the maintenance man, etc... all solid. They are easy to reach, pleasant to deal with, and care about your experience as a tenant. Drawbacks: No A.C in the building. But you can buy a standing unit to vent to the window which solves that. I recommend doing this. Heat: It's central heating for the whole building. You do not have control over the heat in your appt, there are no individual thermostats. To regulate the heat you have to play with the windows to get the right draft going. Otherwise, it gets incredibly dry and hot in the apartment. No gym, no amenities of any kind in the building. Laundry room is upstairs and is clean and well maintained. They do have a mandatory service that picks up and throws away your trash for you, which is nice. Location: Uptown, Cap Hill. There will be homeless people around the property at times. Most of them are harmless and not aggressive, but not all of them. Pay attention. You will hear police sirens at least once or twice a day the police station is a couple blocks down on 16th. They are building a new 10 story apartment complex right on 16th, so this will change the character of the block. More people, less parking, no more view I had an incredible view of both the cathedral and the capitol. To summarize, this is one of the better value places in Denver. I would recommend living here.
AVOID AVOID AVOID. Building management is constantly changing prices of utilities WITHOUT notice OR explanation. Gas prices regardless if you actually use heat or not have gone up by four fold- my average in the middle of winter was $13 and once February rolled around it randomly went up to $58 and has been in the $50-$60 range for 3 months now….. even though we’re in warmer months. They charge a $60 “amenity fee” but don’t hold your breath; you’re paying $60 for spotty WiFi and “Valet trash pick up” which only comes 2 times maybe 3 a week, the dumpsters are left locked- so if you want to take your own trash out, YOU CANT. There’s NO air conditioning for the building, so you have to get a window unit. No in unit laundry- it’s on the top floor. The door locks stick, sometimes keys will break in the locks. Homeless people hangout in the courtyard and occasionally get into the building- the building manager does NOTHING about this, OR the homeless people sleeping in the lobby or stealing packages. Oh and besides the $60 for WiFi and trash pick up- you’re getting ZIP!
I lived at the Grosvenor Arms from January to December 2020, only leaving because I moved cities. The building was very quiet. Management kept the building and grounds well-maintained. The building was very safe, with two secured-entry doors. The location could not be better, close to parks, shopping, and restaurants. Maintenance was extremely responsive to requests. Management and staff were friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable, and the other tenants were polite and respectful. I have recommended the building to several friends and coworkers. An excellent place to live!
I have lived here for almost 2 years and absolutely love it. Simply put, it’s a beautiful old building with beautiful details, such as French doors on some of the closets, pretty glass door knobs, interesting tile from the 30’s, hardwood floors, the list goes on. If there’s ever and issue, such as drama in the laundry room or maintenance issues, I feel the management does a really nice job handling. Icing on the cake is that it’s still affordable. I have lived in DC, SF, Houston, NY and this apartment building is my favorite pad of the lot. It’s a special place. Thanks Grosvenor!
Beautiful old building. I moved into a studio two years ago, and later upgraded to a one bedroom with my fiance. Each unit is unique, so if you don't love the first one you look at, it's probably worth your time to check out a few more. What really sold me on moving in was Paige, the property manager. She is very knowledgeable about the building, responsive if you have any questions, and can be trusted to take care of your concerns. The building is not perfect, due to its location homeless and mentally ill people living in the area older plumbing they will warn you if water needs to be shut off and it will be addressed if you're having pressure problems and occasionally loud neighbors the price is right, which means a lot of young people live there but overall I really loved living in GA, and felt like I was getting exactly what I was paying for.
I am packing up to move after six years of calling Grosvenor Arms home, but I can’t leave without saying how wonderful this place has been to me. Management is excellent, always responsive and has continually made upgrades to services and amenities over the years. Rent has remained surprisingly low every time I’ve renewed my lease. I’ve made dear friends with neighbors, which is rare in such a large building. And I will miss my friends saying “Oooooo” when they ride in the elevator or walk into my apartment for the first time and see the view I enjoy every day. Come take my spot! I think you’ll be as happy here as I have been.
The only problems, I can speak of, typical of buildings this age. Quick office response makes the difference to most. Follow ups tell all The maintenance crew quick with a fix; magic tricks! calm my aging home. I've been at Grosvenor Arms for about a month now. I am enjoying the building, the community here and the location. While it is an older building with few modern amenities, it's charm is abundant. There are typical quirks and troubles that you simply have to accept with a building of this age. The floors creak, there is no AC and the building itself is old. I have had a few maintenance issues/events occur and the one thing that stood out to me was the prompt responses given and what seemed to me a good sense of priority. The crew here works hard to keep the building in running, good condition. I've communicated with Paige on the office staff, who was always prompt, kind and communicative through any issue or need I had this has been a rarity in my experience. I believe tenants and the staff should have a relationship of understanding and compassion; not be strange or strangers to each other in some fashion and the staff here definitely gives me that vibe of community. So, if you're pretty groovy and chill, come check this place out. It's absolutely worth being on your list.
First let me start by saying I LOVE the building. The building itself was built in 1931 and has so much character, great location, and the transit in the area is prime. I was immediately sold.. Second. Val, my leasing agent, was AMAZING. Me being a leasing agent myself and knowing I’m a little on the high maintenance side, she went above expectations, very personable, and made my move so easy. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a new home.
Sadly I didn’t get the chance to live here as my career took me to AZ instead of CO, but I had to write a review about the management team here that went above and beyond to work with me. Alex is so great to help make the process of moving in easy as possible. If the management team works this hard to help you before you’re even a resident then I can only imagine living here would be just as wonderful. Not to mention the tours I did go through I fell in love with the character and charm of the building and vintage feel of the apartment units. Seems like an amazing place to rent with that makes what is usually a stressful situation of finding a place into something that is seamless and exciting. Big thanks to Alex and Paige!
This is a throwback, but I lived there in 1993. I had a studio which was $285 a month, and a one bedroom which was $365 a month. The one bedroom was right above the managers unit in the corner, which got us in a lot of trouble because we were 21. It was a beautiful building and I have fond memories!
