This is a cafe that reminds you that while coffee chains serve their purpose, a local coffee house is a place you want to be. Old records, classic music, floor to ceiling murals highlighting this location, unfinished industrial shop house New York feel all add to the experience, and you haven't even reached the counter tucked away at the back. Coffee options are numerous, I tried an organic single origin bean from Brazil, which was a medium strong roast that didn't wipe out the tasting notes. What was convenient if you are on the go was they will have this nicer bean in a filter coffee brew, normally limited to standard coffees. I tried a chocolate chip scone with my coffee which was generally good in taste and texture. Nice and efficient staff.
Update: their brewed coffee was good and it seems like their pastry selection has increased. I tried their blueberry crumb muffin and it was good as well. I got their iced latte and it was good. The taste is milkier than I prefer it to be but still the coffee taste wasn't completely diluted. I would try their flat white next time.
First time at this location. Their mocha coffee with oat milk used to be my fav treat when I worked near their location in FiDi.
This is an absolutely amazing coffee place. Coffee lovers will love this spot. While a lot of people go to Ground Central for their capucino, I always go for the regular Black coffee. I absolutely love the strong, bitter, toasty taste. Insider tip: you can buy a gift card for which you get more value than the price you pay. If you pay 75 usd, you get a 100 usd value. I always buy such a gift card and use it myself. That way I can enjoy my daily coffee at a good price. PS: kudos to whoever gets to decide the playlist! Very different each day but always spot on!
VERY nice surprise.... Remember the feeling that 1 gets when trying something new, without expecting much; then being impressed? Well, their coffee impresses!
Extremely rude staff. Been here 3 times and every time I’ve either been asked to wait to order for people that came in after me. Other times Employees have been sassy when I ask them a simple question such as “is that vegan”. Made the mistake of going here 3 times, never again. Remi next door is significantly better with better staff.
My latte was decent and they take cups app. It’s a small shop with very few tables. They offer dessert options and bags of coffee to take home.
Great coffee shop with a variety of pastries, coffees and tea selections. I ordered the dirty chai with Almond milk since they do not have coconut milk. It wasn't the best I ever had, however it was good. The price point is a little high in comparison with other local coffee shops but it is a lovely place with lots of memorabilia to delight its patrons. The pastries were delectable.
I’m glad we happened to pop in this cafe on our way out! The baristas were knowledgeable and kind. I had a delicious dirty chai latte with the perfect amount of espresso. Only regret I have is not buying some grounds for home!
Friendly coffee spot in busy midtown East. Quirky decor and good coffee make this a reliable go-to when in the area.
