Thieves. I requested flight tracker be used so the driver meet me in the airport when my flight lands. They opted not to use it - my driver waited over an hour. Feeling badly, I tipped him an extra $20 even though it was on them. I also paid for meet and greet - the guy met me, then went to get the car as I struggled with my bags and waited by the curb for him for 20 minutes. Lo and behold I just got my final tally receipt... they charged me $40 wait time, extra gratuity, and changed my request for flight tracking noted in my original reservation email to say that he should pick me up at the original landing time. The price was nearly doubled. Customer service just told me someone would call me back in 24 hours... I am disputing the charge with my credit card company, but know that not only will I never be using them again, I'm reporting them to the better business bureau. Yes Uber has its problems but honestly my biggest regret was not just going with them. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.
I've used GroundLink several times, and the service is always good. I've never had a late driver, prices are competitive, cars are clean, and I always arrive on time. The mobile app is great. You can track your driver and have a text message sent to you once he has arrived. Very convenient and useful service.
After using two other car services for several years and being disappointed in both, I learned about GroundLink and began using them a few months ago. I was amazed at the promptness of every car, and loved the confirmation email I received before each trip and the email receipt afterwards. Every car I have ordered has been on time and often ten minutes early, which I appreciate. The dispatcher always remembers not to send me an SUV, so I usually get an economy sedan. Every driver I have had is polite and perhaps because I need a cane, helps me into and out of the car. I cannot think of anything that I don't get with this service.
AVOID! DO NOT USE!! These clowns are actually dangerous and should completely be avoided if you don't want to ruin your visit. The first major problem with them is that they set meet time and departure pick-up time based around your flight times. On arrival at JFK they give you one hour from touchdown. After that they charge you $1 PER MINUTE!!! The whole point of booking a service like this is to save money and stress. Groundlink aggravate stress and cost you much more, because when you are standing in the long, very slow moving lines at border control, they start sending you text messages warning you that your time is running out and you're incurring extra charges. You are then forced to make expensive international roaming calls to explain that you are a long way back from where they think you might be. Anyone who has come off an international flight will know especially non-US citizen that clearing border security there in an hour is wildly optimistic on any day of the year!! The worst though was the return pick-up, which they set for 4.05pm from Manhattan for a 7pm flight which a check-in/bag drop that closes at 6pm. It can easily take over an hour just to get out of Manhattan at that time of day start of rush hour. We arranged for our driver to pick us up 4.05pm from our hotel. At 4.10pm he calls us wondering why we haven't come to him - he was on the corner of the street and thought it was obvious that we should have known that and gone to him with all our luggage. There were 3 spaces available in front of the hotel. When he eventually came and parked in one of them, he said he didn't come to the hotel because there was nowhere to park!!! At around 3.55pm, I had actually wondered if he might be waiting down the street, walked down, saw him playing on his phone, indeed parked on the corner, but as he wasn't displaying the identification number '1622' I never made the connection that he was in fact, our driver. Needless to say, we disagreed, and he told me that as it was his car, he didn't have to take us, and he left us stranded. It was only thanks to the hotel who secured us another car, half-an-hour later cheaper and to some clever driving that we, after a massively stressful journey with the expectation of a missed flight, made it to the bag drop desk bang on 6pm and caught our flight. The only service these people are providing is one of lining their pockets at the expense of their customers, victims like myself. There are plenty of better and cheaper and less stressful alternatives. So I repeat, AVOID. DO NOT USE!!!! You have been warned!
I wish I could give no stars. My husband and I were on our way to JFK to travel international. About 3 miles away from my home, I discovered that we had left a bag at my home. Not only did this company charge me the initial reservation fee, but the driver lied and said that we had gotten all the way to JFK when I told him about the missing bag, and that he had to drive all the way back to my home and back to JFK. The company charged me for a 2nd round trip $266 plus the cost of the initial reservation.- total = $410 They are running a SCAM. Not only did the driver lie, but when I explained to customer service what had really happened, they claimed that the driver said that he had gone to JFK and had to turn around. It's sad because I had been recommended to this company. I could have taken an yellow cab and with the distance to turn around to pick up the missing bag, it would have cost an additional $20-30 dollars to the cost of the trip. It is a SCAM that I was charged $410 for this trip. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!!! SCAM ARTISTS!
I booked a car to pick my mother in law up from EWR to manhatten a ride that usually cost $50-$55. I ordered a pick up from the inside of the airport that was $15 more and because she doesn't speak English I added that. The driver wasn't to be found for more then 15 min. They end up charging me $100 and change!! Look at the fine print! You gonna pay for parking, tolls etc... After a long conversation with a customer service rep and my husband they wanted to give us $8 back for the parking charge. They are a joke! Basically I paid $40 more then a regular cab for nothing. Keep your eyes out!
This was Gr8 for driver not now. Now they are most corrupt. They don't show how much they charge from passengers and cheaper from uber. There fleet team knowledge are too poor also customer care knowledge too. Fleet and customer care everyone pickup phone from Europe and they don't know nothing about Manhattan Or NYC.
From a driver perspective. Driver who have Uber x cars it's not worth it.35% commission is way too much and of course rates are low for economy cars.Plus 90% jobs are for luxury cars. So if you have Lexus or Avalon or any other luxury cars then it's a good idea to work for them. Staff is very friendly!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They booked a trip for me over the phone, and then messed up the date. Then when I called to have it changed they said it was not in the cancellation window and I would owe $103... and then to re do the trip for the correct day I would have to pay another $170... that's almost $300 for them to drive 40 miles... because of their screw up. Worst customer service I've ever experienced.
My driver arrived 30 minutes early in a nice clean Toyota Avalon. Very courteous. I look forward to using GroundLink again.
