When we moved from Mexico to US we lived in downtown for 1 year. There we missed natural light, natural air and the chirping of birds . Due to CoVid i could not physically come and visit my appartment before finalizing. But today is my 2nd day here in Hathaway and I am glad we chosed this appartment. Its full of natural lights, its beautiful, specially the view. I am in love with this place
My mother is looking to sell her home and move. She would have liked to move into the Hathaway House. My days off are Sunday and Monday. I've stopped past the leasing office the LAST 4 MONDAYS in a row! This is never at the same time! The door outside is closed & locked! I'm let into the building by the front desk who always calls back and the person in the office doesn't answer. When I'm allowed to go to the inside door it says closed for training! Light on, door closed & locked! Do yall understand how unprofessional it is that the window says the availability and the door is always locked! How are yall doing training EVERY SINGLE WEEK! DO YALL ACTUALLY LEASE APARTMENTS? I kept coming back because its what my mother wanted but Im tired of wasting my gas and time! I told my mother that we'll try elsewhere!!!
Hathaway House is a great updated apartment complex with an awesome support staff. The amenities are all there, you have the swimming pool on the roof, gym on the first floor and entrance monitoring 24/7. I would definitely keep renting here if I didn't purchase a house.
Lived here for 2 years in a 2 bed 1 bath and a year in the studio back in 2015-2018. The 2 bedroom on a higher floor had a gorgeous view facing northwest over the Wissahickon Valley Park for a stunning sunset in the fall and short walk to some great walking/biking trails. The apartment also had a ton of closet space with 2 huge closets just inside the front door, closets lining the hallway back to the 2 rooms and shared bathroom, and to top it off, they had large closets within both bedrooms. It was spacious and clean for the reasonable price when I lived here. The kitchen had great appliances and counter space with the half-wall between the kitchen and living room. The bathroom had a large mirror and a heat lamp. Laundry units are available per floor, I used them at relatively off times, but if it was being used, you could just go up or down a floor until you find available washer/dryer. It used a card that was reloaded via cash downstairs. Heating never costed much bill was usually $30-40, but the AC in the summer could get a bit pricey I believe it peaked at about $150 for me. Management and other staff were always nice and accessible, but I particularly love the other residents. The residence was quiet and the people were welcoming. The only cons I had with the place was the local shops and neighborhood. The restaurants were a bit lacking, and if I wanted to do anything, I'd have to hop on the train very short walk to center city or get a ride. Parking in the free lot could get a bit crowded, but I could usually find street parking as backup. They do have paid garage parking underneath the building. As I was leaving, they had management turnover and started renovations to include a fitness center and modernize the lobby and hallways. They also have a nice rooftop pool that I visited once. I could not find my original photos from when I moved in to give a good view of the actual apartment, but included the photos I took when selling off my furniture before leaving the 2 bedroom into the studio which I included a couple somewhat messy photos of the living space. Overall, I loved my time there and would highly recommend Hathaway House Apartments to anyone looking for apartments in the area!
I moved here in December 2020 and I can honestly say this is the best move my husband and I ever made. The view from my balcony is priceless its so peaceful and absolutely beautiful. So far the staff has been very prompt, pleasant and respectful. I Love it here. Finally got my dream home.
The agent communicated with me just enough so that it wasnt obvious I was being discriminated against. She was supposed to send me a 360 video of the apartment never did and she made an appointment with me to view the building. But, when I called several times to follow up, she never returned my calls. Then, weeks later left me text messages so its documented pretending as if shes JUST hearing about my inquiry. Tells me theres other interest in the apartment it was newly posted when I first inquired and I need to submit my application asap. Funny how the other applicants received adequate communication to get an application. I didnt even get that far. Shady!
Absolutely % disgusting. RENTERS BEWARE!!! 1. Michelle Goodman- The most condescending, unprofessional, ill-informed leasing manager. Should not work in the front office if she can not handle the minimum responsibilities of being a leasing agent and customer service representative of the building. First, Michelle expected to use someone else's last 4 Of their social to sign into the account to sign my lease. Not acceptable. Second, day of move in, I arrive around 10am, we'll after the beginning of the morning, my keys were not ready and there were issue with the apartment. The A/C did not work and after waiting 4 hour to get keys to lock my door, the door did not lock, nor did it align to the door frame. Michelle's expectation was for me to leave my items in the apartment without being able to secure my apartment. When I informed her that I was not comfortable with doing that because I am a single female, she became agitated, caught an attitude at my reluctance to leave my items in an unlocked apartment and told me to speak with the building manager. She then started to misrepresent what I said to her while speaking with the building manager. My lawyer friend recognizing the legality of the situation stepped in to identify the misrepresentation and she snapped at him, stating that he wasn't on the lease and has no right to speak. Two hours later, now approaching 5pm, after they were able to finally fix the lock and when I tried to pay move in expenses with a personal check she caught another attitude saying she only accepted cashier's checks. Being active duty military, I could stay that day, as I had other responsibilities the following day at the unit I was checking out of. I told her she I would get a check and mail it the following day. The flowing day, I got the check, however told her that I was unable to mail the check and that I would send the following day. The day I was on my way to the post office, she sends me an email saying she was going to cancel my lease. Extremely unprofessional as none of this would have happened if she actually sent me the welcome letter in a timely fashion- and not the day prior to the move in. 2. Apartment complex. Large roaches in the basement. When they are killed, no one moves them. One roach stayed in the same spot for three weeks. None of the cleaning crew, maintenance, building manager or anyone else decided to move the dead roach to the trash. Trash, such a foul stench in the basement. Water leaks from the pipes causing stalactites, dripping on vehicles in the garage in which you are required to pay more for. 3. My apartmentRoaches. The first time I got back to my apartment I was greates by two small roaches in my bathroom. Running Toilet. The master bathroom toilet randomly runs and I am unable to turn the water valve off. A/C. I'm pretty sure my A/C is the loudest on the floor. It is obnoxiously loud where it keeps me up at night some times. Refrigerator. Refrigerator rattles like muffler when the motor turns off. 2nd Bathroom toilet wobbles. Master room closet light comes out of the socket. Bathroom doors don't close all the way. The gas bill was extremely high $65 for only being in the apartment for 6 days. When I asked Michelle Goodman about this in an email, she told me not to pay. This is not the answer because this will be reported to my credit. I then attempted to follow-up in person and ask why the bill would be so high, she could not tell me why. When I asked if there was anything else in the apartment that would use gas, she said she did not know. Asked to speak to the building manager, and made an appointment. Left work early for the appointment, arrived on time, however, the building manager was no where to be found. Michelle miraculously remembered at that time, that the building manager was in training, and had been all week. If that was the case, then why did Michelle set up the appointment? I left a note asking for a call back, but never recieved it. After waiting two days, I called Regional and left a message for Tabitha. No response.
Hathaway House used to be a nice residence. You'll notice other reviews here and elsewhere are from years ago. Since new management came in, however, it's been one problem after another. Several tenants have gone without heat during the winter while waiting for maintenance to fix it. The new security people don't know any of the rules, how things are run here, and haven't been told what they're supposed to be doing. No one properly maintains the property, and as a result, a huge tree fell and crushed half of the cars in the parking lot. One of the only two elevators has been constantly malfunctioning and out of order. My neighbor's water was out for two days. Lights are out in the stairwell that's supposed to be an emergency exit or alternative to the elevator. It's neglected and never cleaned. What used to be a nice, friendly atmosphere with tenants who socialized for years has soured with the presence of new management. I've lived here for over five years and thought I'd never leave. It felt like home. As soon as my lease is up in a few months, I'm straight up gone. I'm not the only one, and I'm not sure I'd trust any Scully Company residence after such a dramatic reversal in quality of life.
Me and my girlfriend have been residents of the Hathaway house for 2 months and since our arrival things have been going swell. Any issues that arise, the maintenance and management staff quickly take care of it in a courteous fashion. Only Recommendation is utilizing any available open space for a common area that is accessible for our older and younger neighbors.
I am a current resident at the Hathaway House. I moved here in April 2017. The building is very, very well managed. The management always communicates any issue both by postings in public areas and via email. There is never a surprise. You could not ask for a better maintenance team. I have never had a maintenance issue that was not resolved in 24 hours. Most times within hours. The building hallways are immaculate as well as all the public spaces. There is 24/7 security and the security staff are excellent. Denise and Cliff are the regulars and they are fantastic. Also a note regarding the residents. Everybody is very friendly. The management plans events throughout the year for the residents culminating in a fairly elaborate Christmas Party in December. My only complaint here is the noise but the noise is from the street and not from within the building. My apartment faces Chelten Avenue and there is the usual traffic noise from the street. That is why four and not five stars but it should really be 4 and half stars One person posted regarding the neighborhood. There is nothing wrong with the neighborhood at all. Yes there was a shooting in a bar on Chelten Avenue recently but there are shootings everywhere, including Rittenhouse Square. Often times when I am at a concert or event in CC and take the train home at night I have NEVER felt unsafe walking back. As far as the neighborhood is concerned we are just a couple blocks from the Wissahickon Park. That in itself is a great recommendation. I am very happy living here and there is a sign in the front entrance that says at the front entrance that says Welcome Home and I really do feel that this is home.
