Authentic Austrian bakery and deli. This is one of those places that’s worth a detour.. Their deli has genuine and unusual deli meats from Germany as well as an excellent selection of sausages. Their pastries are outstanding. And they have the only authentic Apple strudel in the DC area. Pies here are excellent. It’s also a great place to go around the German holidays.

I've been going to Heidelberg since the 70's, first with my parents, now with my children. It is really unmatched in the area for the selection, quality, freshness, and experience. As a kid, I was all about the cookies - they are legendary and the variety is immense. There are chocolates, gorgeous and decadent cakes, fresh breads, Saturday morning treat pretzels, German condiments, and candies. There are seasonal treats, marzipan sweets, and a great deli. The puff pastry twisted pretzels are probably the hardest thing for me to skip. They are just perfection.

I love this place. I’m a fan of their pies, sausages, bread, and biscuits. Make sure you try their spicy pumpkin dough during Christmas - to die for!! The quality of their cakes are good, just not exceptional. That said, most people I know that shop there love the cakes. Their coffee is also really good.

Loved this place. Everything is baked fresh and in house. Prices are reasonable and they have a wide variety. My friends German and she said this is as authentic as it gets. I tried the bread and pretzel and they were both delicious

Absolutely top-notch! If you want something special for the holidays, don't forget to order early. It can be totally packed and parking is extremely limited. 

Everything is super fresh. When you get inside ordering can be a little confusing so don't be afraid to ask for help. Their seasonal treats are delightful and worth a special trip, but their every day offerings are delicious if you just want an impressive pastry for dessert or cookies to go along with your tea.
