Love this place! The ambiance and food is absolutely stellar. My partner and I have celebrated several occasions at Hen of the Woods and will happily return for more. Their Parker house rolls are quite possibly the most delicious bread you'll taste in Vermont. Soft pillows of deliciousness. I generally end up ordering most, if not all of the small plates, for great sharing options and to really get a sense of the entire menu. Don't skip on the cured ham if that's available, or their signature mushroom toast, and be sure to leave room for a cheese or two to end your meal. Cocktails are delightful and use local spirits and ingredients, reflecting the overall ethos of the restaurant. I recommend this place for cozy dates, big celebrations, and any time you want to enjoy local products.
Wow, we were recommended by fellow skiers on the lift and it didn't disappoint at all. We got to sit at the chef's counter and being someone who has been in the restaurant my whole life it was a pleasure to watch these guys work. Super professional and the whole kitchen works as a well oiled machine. The food was equally as impressive, the menu changes frequently, so if they have it, the duck was amazing and even my girlfriend who doesn't like duck tried it, and agreed it was delicious. Finished with an Espresso martini which was a perfect finish to the perfect dinner with my special girl!
We were invited to Hen of the Wood while we were in Burlington and I couldn’t have been happier with our experience. They have taken great care to cultivate a fine dining ambience that is not overcrowded or pretentious. The Farm To Table experience offered is one of the things we love most about the town of Burlington, Vermont. The food itself is delicious. We had a variety of cold seafood, steaks, vegetables and dessert - all were excellent. Do not skip dessert. Their olive oil lemon cake is SO GOOD. I promise it’s worth all of the calories!
Last minute Walk-in and were offered a spot at the bar. Best decision of the day. The pastrami duck was an delicious surprise and the work put into the veggies definitely shows. My personal highlight, the olive oil cake. You will not be disappointed!
Hen of the wood is an incredibly quality restaurant and has earned its solid reputation. Went there for a date night and while it’s definitely on the more expensive side, it’s worth it. I had the grilled broccoli entree and my boyfriend has the porchetta, we were wildly impressed. We also ordered two different cheese plates which never fail to delight. Drinks were great too. The ambience is really rustic but modern, and I felt super comfortable. Service was incredibly kind and attentive. Definitely a great place for a more special occasion!
My favorite restaurant of all time. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and kind. Food is out of this world. Cocktails are amazing. Great date night, or place to bring a client of in town. I go here every time I’m in Vermont
Amazing Dishes.. that we went for dinner again. Right next to busy Church Street. Seasonal menu with fresh ingredients.. Friendly staff.. Bar Tender shared recipes for her cocktails.. great interiors as well.. Food was amazing!!
What a lovely farm to table experience this place provides! My friend and I were not disappointed as we truly enjoyed the experience they provided for us. Our waiter Chris did a fantastic job of explaining everything to us and being honest about the selection of food. We enjoyed the pear appetizer along with the duck and the swordfish. I highly recommend all the above as the food was exquisite and memorable! I wish I lived in the area so I could come back and eat there again often.
Nice fresh plates, but a little too hyped up and expensive. Food was alright but nothing was mind blowing. Cocktails were creative and delicious, but expensive. The cheapest bottle of wine that was offered was $50… It’s one of those places where you go and check out once, but don’t make it a regular spot. Service was kind and attentive. All the staff there are really nice and knowledgeable. I also liked the rustic decor and the open kitchen concept as well.
There were no reservations available, but two of us got a walk in right when they opened. There was already a line out the door in -20 degrees, but we were fortunate enough to sit in front of the chefs. We ordered a few different dishes. You could taste the intent in each bite. The endive and venison tartare were especially unique and delicious. The cocktails were also great, I had to get the one with mezcal and repasoado twice. The menu rotates, so I can't wait to be back.
