I arrived without an appointment, a little scared,to be honest. I was treated politely, and the nice woman gave me all the info I needed, to take care of my situation. And I'm OK. Thank you.

I was confronted by your private security officer today (3-12-2015) at about 3:00 PM while picking up forms and instructions for a friend to use to file his tax. This officer walked up close behind me and order me to leave your office. All he said was " you are not supposed to have that in here leave now". I thought he may have assumed I had a gun or something. I raised my over shirt to show him I had no gun. He repeated his order firmly while holding the grips of his firearm in the holster and speaking into the radio he carried. I still did not know what he was talking about. Having been a retired Federal Employee who was trained as a law enforcement officer I could tell his next move was to draw his sidearm. I turned to go when he ordered me again to leave. When I got back to my truck I tried to think why he was so aggarvated with me. I did was not angry. I never even talked to a clerk. When I went get my keys from my front jeans pocket I discovered I had a small pocket knife with a pocket clip that i habitually carry like a lot of men do. I considered going back inside minus the pocket knife but I was worried he would take that as an aggresive move and actually pull his weapon. I was trained at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC) in Glenco Georgia , the same academy where IRS agents train. This Officer needs to treat visitors to your office as public citizens not suspects. If I had been him I would have asked " Is that a knife in your pocket Sir?" "if it is you are not allowed to bring it inside, please take it back to your vehicles before reentering the building". I retired from the U.S. Forest Service with over 30 years serving the public in the field. I contacted thousands of people in the forest wearing knives and a lot of them carrying guns. Never once did I feel the need to hold on to my side arm. If I needed it I knew where it was without gripping it. His demeanor is a serious threat to your customers. That attitude could cause someone to react to his aggressive behavior inappreciably. I was no threat to him or your other employees. Please review this complaint with an IRS enforcement officer or agent. His needs to be re trained or dismissed. Review survalance tapes and ask yourself if this contact could have been handled more acceptably.
