The lobby is lovely and modern. The rooms are rather dated. My room wasn't particularly well cleaned -- hair in the bathroom, dust on the coffee maker not just a little. Bathroom had soap but no shampoo or conditioner. I asked the front desk and was told they were out; what hotel runs out of shampoo? The bed was comfortable, food from the restaurant downstairs fine.
Spent 2 nights. Stay was satisfactory, but not as good as I expected. Many minor issues, but no major problems... While this hotel would not be my top recommendation for the downtown Jackson area, it wasn't so bad that is recommend avoiding it. The room was clean, and the bedding was quite comfortable. Water pressure was good, even on higher floors. The hotel is slightly dated in hall layout and decor, but the rooms aren't bad. There were several minor issues. The lobby drop off area was crowded and disorganized, although an attendant was present not actively directing. The first set of keys issued did not work, requiring a return trip to the lobby while carrying all luggage. At the room, the AC was not working properly the first night fixed by the second night, and the commode didn't reset properly after use. Reaching the rooms or parking garage requires the elevators, which took an unreasonable amount of time when demand was high. And the cleaning crew left our door ajar and a rag on our dresser no items were missing.
We just stayed here over the weekend and generally were satisfied with our stay. The lobby and lounge were updated and modern, and most importantly, the king bed was large and comfortable. We ate dinner at the lounge and breakfast was delivered to the room. The food was very tasty and fresh. The shower was plenty hot. Some have complained that the rooms are dated. Ours was a little out of style, but it was still nice and not falling apart. There was a large HDTV, but no fridge or microwave. We didn't need them, so that's not a deal breaker. The staff we encountered were neutral. No one was super cheery, but no one was rude either. When we ate in the lounge, it was understandable because they were apparently shorthanded. The food was still good, we didn't have any problems with any staff members, so that's all good. Maybe the only slight negative was that our room was next to a side or service elevator. The heating/cooling unit didn't really have a fan to drown it out, so it woke us up the fan is very quiet. If you're a light sleeper, maybe ask for a room away from any elevator. Again, all in all a decent stay. If we end up staying in Jackson again, we would likely come back here. **note: did not intend for comment about staff to be taken negatively. We did not have any problems with the staff. **
Best thing about the place is the staff. They are friendly and helpful. There is also parking available. The decor throughout the hotel is quite dated, with wallpaper, floral carpet and old fashioned lamps. If you like grandma's style, you will feel right at home. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.
The lobby is absolutely beautiful! All the staff are pleasant and friendly. They did a wonderful job taking care of all of the unexpected evacuee Floridians. The rooms are spotless clean with the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on!.... This is by far the best hotel I've ever stayed at and I've stayed at a lot! 5 stars!!!
Very nice hotel, but really need to work on c Keeping carpet clean and updated. You could smell that the carpet needed updating or something. A little poor management as it relates to the finer details to make a hotel in this category Great. But many times, management don't take initiative, because of who they think may be their patron. But overall, it was good during my seminar with Sonicwall.
The staff is very friendly & helpful! We had a great overnight trip. Having the concierge lounge is a great bonus. The bar has some draft beer as well as a fully stocked bar. The menu has a large selection of items to choose from. We ordered an appetizer and it was excellent. We will stay there again the next time we pass through the area.
Wow, what can I say? This Marriott has completely declined over the years. There was hardly anyone at the hotel! There was no doorman to greet you anymore or help with the bags. The concierge lounge was closed. I don't even know how to start about the breakfast. The buffet in the past was great with the smoked salmon with capers and different meats. Now Rewards member only get continents breakfast and if one wants eggs or bacon then one has to pay more. In the past all was included. This may sound petty but when a Rewards member spend 75 or more nights away from home during a calendar year with the same hotel brand, at least one can get a decent breakfast of choice. The Fairfied Inn will at least give you eggs and bacon for free.
Stopped at the bar for a quick lunch. Nice upscale, modern, and tucked away atmosphere. Slightly upscale bar menu with pretty good selection. Food is served hot and fresh. I had the Cali chicken sandwich. Seasoned well and good overall. Friend had the chicken flatbed which was quite good. Only downfall was the service. Subpar. Especially for the atmosphere. Improve the service and you've got a great hideaway food and drink spot.
I chose the Marriott based on previous stays at other locations and member perks. This was an emergency trip, so I looked for Marriotts along our path. I definitely should have read more reviews. The young lady that checked us in was wonderful. The only positive moment of the stay. Our room was damp and smelled of mildew. There were several items broken. The screws on the 'security' latch were not screwed in completley. Our room had the feel of a 1970s motel. Some random place, you dare pullover in the middle of the night. It just smelled so badly. The scent lingered in our clothes. I didn't try the food, as there are no vegetarian options. However, if there had been options, I would not have ordered based on the condition our room. Exhaustion kept us from immediately checking out and finding somewhere else. Luckily it was only for one night! Unfortunately, there is no photo upload option.
