First place here , I enjoyed the grilled cheese with bacon and Greek lemon soup . Very tasty and the waitress was very attentive. Parking was good you have plenty of option on the street . They have a nice size bar as well. Seating inside and outside . Plenty of it .
Great atmosphere… Friendly staff across the board… they make you feel welcome, and always striving to provide quality service. If You’re not sure on what to order, they do not hesitate to recommend their mist popular plates. If you’re jot satisfied they go out if their way to maje things right. Failed in love with this place. Really cant tell you much because i m completely amazed with their service, their food and polite staff. They sure showed sense if urgency serving their patrons.
i love this place. favorite go to local breakfast place. food is always good and the employees are always niceDine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: Yes
My girlfriend girl who is a friend came to visit me Saturday and wanted lunch but wanted breakfast food. We looked up a few places near me and found John's of Willow Glen and saw it had good reviews and wasn't too expensive, so we decided to go there. Let me first say it was busy but not THAT busy. There were still open seats inside and outside despite there being a birthday party going on. With this said, we walked in and waited near the booth that said "Please wait to be seated" we waited a good 10 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us before a woman who looked like she was a patron came up and sat us. Let me be clear-there was no line. We sat outside right next to the bar area because we didn't want to be inside by the party. No exaggeration-we got our waters after about another 10 minutes and a waiter/waitress NEVER came to check on if we were ready to order or if he had questions. And there was no way to tell who worked there and who was a patron! My friend suggested we move to the bar to get service, which we did and the bar tender was nice enough and took our order. However, again, 15-20 minutes to get some French toast, two tiny pieces of bacon, and maybe one fried egg I make eggs all the time, that was NOT two eggs NEVER CHECKED ON AFTER THAT. And the food honestly was not worth the amount of time it took to get it. It took me putting a mask on and pushing my plate to the edge of the bar to get someone to ask if we were ready for the check. Again, if we were checked on once, maybe asked if we wanted more water, another drink, this wouldn't be too bad. Horrible service, especially when it wasn't packed, and subpar food. 0 out of 10, would not recommend.
We came for lunch, and waited patiently at the hostess stand over around 10 mins with no one offering to seat us or tell us to seat ourselves. There was a bartender tending to the bar and seemingly purposefully did not help either. We saw only one bus person on the floor the entire time no servers or hostesses and he avoided looking at us and kept his back to us the entire time. Finally my spouse went up to him and waiting patiently until he finished helping an already seated customer to ask him to seat us, but he quickly turned his back and started to walk away. Finally my spouse said “Sir can we be seated”, and the guy snorted “yeah” and kept on going. Were we supposed to seat ourselves? There was no sign indicating we do so, and in the past they have always seated you and brought menus. The guy did not bring us menus or give any indication that he was interesting in serving us, so we walked out and went somewhere else, where they greeted is at the door, seated us promptly and happily took our order. We live in Willow Glen and have been coming John’s for over 25 years. It’s been primarily the same staff for years, yet most of them treat us like it’s the first time they ever saw us in their lives. The food is good, but not worth the indifferent service we usually receive. We probably won’t be back anytime soon. It’s a shame they don’t seem to want our money.
Went on Labor Day.. plenty of space with indoor and outdoor seating.. good food.. really liked the hot chocolate and pancakes!
I have to say that the food is always delicious. The first time my wife and I went to John's of willow glen I thought that we just found a jewel, a perfect classic breakfast American restaurant. The service is has been amazing; always so welcoming and happy people. The old warm decor was so classic and welcoming, I felt a lot of peace. Nevertheless, after the restaurant got remodeled, they environment changed, it doesn't feel the same. It feels more like a sports bar. For some people, it might be great, for us that still remember the old John's, we miss the classic Italian decor and vive of the stablishment. Vegetarian options: The menu and kitchen are always open to meet your needs. Kid-friendliness: Staff always friendly to kids.
The food was out of flavors. It was my first time there and I won't go back for the food again. I will rank the food 4 or 5 out of 10. The beer was awesome. I forgot its name but it had added shot. Rank: 10 out of 10 to the drink. The owner was super nice, polite and friendly. These 3 stars mainly belong to her excellent customer service, however the employees were not welcoming at all. I prefer not mentioning our bad experience with the employees attitude in detail.
My family and I went to John's and saw quite the difference in atmosphere, not to mention the changes the inside. We didn't realize a live bad was playing at the front, so we sat at the far back as we could, but even though the band was playing good music, we couldn't hear each other. In the end, the food was mediocre at best as well as my wife's...we have been going to John's for almost 20 years, not sure if we will be back.
John’s of Willow Glen has transformed into a hipster restaurant with a perfectly groomed menu. The New JWG has arrived as one of the best friendly staff and superb service on the Stripe. Go go John’s keep up the good food! AM or PM that is John’s!Recommended dishesSalads, Cobb Salad, Fruit Salad, Eggs Benedict
