Came late one evening for a quiet meal. I ordered the red tofu curry and, when asked how spicy I wanted, said “I’d like it as spicy as the cook would cook it for herself.” The waitress said, “Well, it’s Joy herself cooking, and she likes it spicy. Are you sure?” I was. It came out. It was INTENSELY spicy. And the best Thai food I’ve ever eaten. Perfect broth, perfectly crisp veggies, done to a tee. I’m drooling now just thinking of it. Let me know if you’re going.

Chanced upon the Pattaya on a quick visit to Minneapolis. In the middle of Richfield downtown. Strives hard to give you a beach feel with blue walls and exotic wall hangings. Service was quick. It was interesting that my colleague ordered a dish with cottage cheese and he got a dish with everything except that. The restaurant was quick to apologize and fix that source of protein. I ordered the drunken noodles. Was a little low on the salt but overall it was good and hence the 4 stars.

My in-laws have lived nearby for years and we always drive by but never tried it. I was concerned it wouldn't be authentic but we finally tried it tonight and it's definitely very authentic. Having spent a lot of time in Thailand and Laos, both countries have their own spin on the same dishes. Most Thai places in the Twin Cities actually serve more Lao-style foods (salty, sour, spicy), but this Joy's is much more authentically Thai (sweet).

Friendly and attentive staff. Egg rolls are homemade and amazing. The drunken noodle is very good as well. want it spicy? They can burn your mouth off!

After being a loyal customer for over 6 years, I will no longer ever be going back. Extremely rude customer service and once pad Thai arrived it was just burnt fried egg (seriously had tons of gross black char through out) and noodles with 3 shrimp. Worst I've ever had. Ate about 5 bites and.couldnt even eat anymore and not a single check in from the waiter besides our bill about 20 min later. This place used to be one of my favorites and has gone down hill in last 6 months. Sad.
