I was in Kindred Hospital , located in Philadelphia. I’m shocked by some of these negative reviews. Over the last three years I’ve spent time in five different facilities. Kindred by far was the best place I’ve been. The entire experience was amazing. Although my issue was not as complicated as others at the facility, I did have a front row seat to watch a roommate get the most amazing care for someone unable to do anything for themselves. Let me take a moment to recognize some individuals that I had great experiences with, not to take away from the entire staff. I had the pleasure of having Michael, the chief clinical nurse at the facility for a Morning. To have someone at that level jump in and help out was fantastic. Watching him do his thing, it makes you feel comfortable that the rest of the staff knows their stuff. Standouts for my experience with nurses, Louisa, Maria, Siani, Angi and Michelle took wonderful care of me. When in other facilities the drop off is usually in the CNA‘s, not at this place. Keysha, Nammie, Marie, Sheryl and Danny were all Fantastic! Danny even gave me a little note of encouragement for my healing process, when I left. Wound care department, big shout out to Mike and Lauren. You guys kept it fun. Samantha my case manager, ran around doing anything she could for my special situation. I did some work with the PT/OT department. Caroline was awesome. I didn’t need respiratory very much, but Shirley always came in and checked my oxygen levels. Very nice! Not everyone’s experience is the same with these types of facilities, but I would recommend anyone to go to this facility. The staff was amazing, the place was always being cleaned and the foods not so bad.
Not sure how the are now but the nurses that were there 4yrs ago did not do their job. My mom dialysis kept being cut due to them saying she kept clotting which never happened before she got there, and she had bedsores. There was lack of communication when it came to her treatment. Nursing staff was unprofessional and license needs to be questioned. If I could give them a half of star I would
Thank you to the wonderful staff at Kindred everyone was helpful and kind. Thank you to Carmen who always answer our questions and made sure we could face time with our aunt all the way from Florida. She's home now from rehab and doing well. Great place with good caring people.
I am so pleased to be asked to write a review.I am so blessed to have such caring caregivers taking care of my sister and other patients here at Kindred Hospital. The best I've seen in a long time. The staff seems to take care of their patients as if they were family. I have to say that Kindred Hospital staff should be listed as number One!!! One of the nurses who has been exceptional is Ms Stacey Pena and also one of the nurses aides Mrs Pat Scott.Actually they all should receive praise and blessings. The facility is SO CLEAN!!! Even the Security Staff is pleasant. Your Patient Relation Representative is without a doubt simply nonpareil. She met me,and immediately gave me both a high comfort level and a sense of calm. Her name is Mrs Carmen Colom.
This is a bit of a long review but absolutely necessary. I’ve spent a great deal of time at Kindred hospital in Northeast Philadelphia and I’ve met a few certified jewels, and then some 100% incompassionate only there for a paycheck grabbing undesirables, however this particular message is about a well deserved kudos CNA named Marie Coleman. When you’re in a hospital or medical facility having medical needs and almost total dependencies of the assistance of others, you definitely need a staff member like Marie Coleman on board to help you in that facility she’s awesome. I can tell a few situations where she came through like a champion, but the latest is sufficient. Without going into my medical history I will share that I was at Kindred hospital for respiratory purposes and one day I was reading my emails in an upright position on an electric hospital bed with my legs elevated for a temporary position shift and dosed off to sleep, when I awakened not knowing how long I was asleep, my diaphragm was compressed and I could barely breathe. To say that I was in a state of panic is an understatement, I was gasping for breath and getting increasingly distressed so I rang the call bell for my nurse whose name is irrelevant at this time to come in and after a few minutes she came in and immediately knew the circumstance and started pressing the buttons on the bed to put it in the default position. The bed would not move at all and as we were both confused at the sudden malfunctioning bed she went out to get help, I suppose but never came back in the room. She wasn’t a bad nurse but I’m not sure what happened with her in those moments so I rang the call bell and after a few minutes Marie came into the room, and when she saw the state that I was in she knew that I was there like that for a little while and was not pleased at all. She immediately untrended the bed to its default position clicked one button and the bed opened back up like a Christmas present. My diaphragm decompressed, the air started flowing back into my body and I was more than grateful. In a situation like that you need competent quick actioned assistance and Marie was right there with those necessities. I am so glad and grateful that she was there and I hope that Kindred knows that they have a great staff member because at that place they definitely need people on staff like Marie Coleman and I’m blessed that she was there when I needed that help.
The care the my loved one has received throughout their stay has been exceptional. They truly are a team when it comes to ensuring that patients and families are cared for, medically and emotionally. The level of care begins at the front door with Joe in security, who greets each visitor with a smile and a genuine “How are you doing today?”. Then there’s Lapri in housekeeping, who ensures that the space is clean and will go beyond her duties to get a medical professional to help when you need them. There’s Marie in Nursing Services who advocates for and ensures all patients needs are being addressed, even if those patients are not on her caseload. Also Luisa of nursing services , my families angel, who takes her time in explaining everything and answering any questions we may have. There are so many I could name and each with a different example, Mike in Wound Care, Carmen in Patient Services, Dr. Murray, everyone in Respiratory Therapy, etc. If you are in search of a place where your loved one will receive the best care in their most vulnerable state, then Kindred Hospital of Philadelphia is who you should trust for that care.
I have received nothing but the best treatment and attention I needed here at Kindred. The nurse supervisor, manager and nurses Are to be commended on their work ethics. Joe and santos from the Physical Therapy team are outstanding. They care about their work and I felt they truly cared to help me walk. All in all I felt I was treated with true dignity while here at Kindred. There are too many names to mention but all folks from wound care, social work, nutrition, dietary, PT/OT and nursing are all great in my eyes.
I’m really not someone who would write reviews, but just wanted to say that this place was a life changer for my uncle. The amount of time it took to get him off vent and back to eating was amazing. They definitely aren’t perfect, but they make up with caring staff and attentiveness. I couldn’t name any of the staff because it was a while ago he was here, but I can say that the respiratory team along w/nursing were very good. After he left there he went to a skilled nursing home and OMG what a difference. I would definitely recommend.
Marie Coleman is an exceptional aide! She handled me with so much care and patience during my stay. She is truly a blessing
Fantastic care. I knew nothing about this hospital. I was transferred to Kindred from another hospital for continued trach care and knee surgery. I was so comfortable that I didn't want to leave to go to a nursing home for continued antibiotic care and monitoring. Great hospital. Great care.
