La Bodega

I'm so sad. My boyfriend and I took my son out- just home from college- for what we thought would be an amazing dinner- based on our past experiences. Honestly, truly, my very expensive drink tasted like water with lime juice. Same with my boyfriend's drink. Not a good sign when every dish needs table salt added. Would have ordered more food, including dessert- maybe gambled on another drink. Instead we were given the check in passing and our credit card and receipt were returned in the same manner. This was our "really special-save up money- twice a year kinda $$$ that we really don't have" evening. I am so disappointed ☹️

La Bodega has been one of my absolute favorite restaurants for 15 years. They're consistently delicious. The atmosphere is energetic and diverse. It's great for a group gatherings or intimate dinner for two. While there are kid menus, high chairs and coloring pages upon request, I don't consider this restaurant especially child friendly (there are no diaper changing stations in the bathrooms, and I don't often see young children here). That, however, has not stopped us from taking our kids to fine at La Bodega from a very young age. The Spanish tapas are interesting and varied. Happy hour daily may be one of the best keep secrets in KC dining (not any more!). Happy hour features both food and drink specials.

So, choose carefully with the tappas. We didn't find many we liked, and they're fairly expensive for how small they are... The drinks are amazing though! It's also got a really cool atmosphere, and you can eat out on the patio, which is nice.

The tapas are absolutely delicious and the sangria is so refreshing. I highly recommend going during happy hour (everyday from 2pm to 6pm.) as most of their tapas are half price as is the sangria. They have two locations o e downtown and one in overland park. Both have a great atmosphere, wonderful service and tasty food. The food and drink prices are fair for what you get and the overall experience is well worth it.

Lovely Tapas place. Sit outside, have some cocktails. It's a popular place for girls night out. The menu has something for everyone. The fried artichoke hearts are scrumptious.
