Small mom/pop restaurant with live music on Saturdays. The place is on the smaller scale but elegantly decorated. The hostess was really sweet, elegant dressed and she accommodated us quickly. It was full, the entire time we were there. Had the gambas, and mushrooms for a tapas and the black rice for dinner. The waiter was attentive and checked on us frequently and provided an excellent service. The rice was delicious. Definitely would come back.
Missing our Spain travel in 2019, searched Google for a Spanish tapas/wine restaurant in the Bay Area and this one popped up, so off we went and it didn't disappoint. Granted, they missed a couple of items we ordered, which makes me think that they will have fulfillment issues with large crowds. Tapas quality is a definite 4/5. Spanish wine selection is good, albeit with the typical Silicon Valley margins rather than the wine is cheaper than water pricing in Spain. Ah..... wishing I'm in Valencia, but in times of pandemic, this is good enough to bring me back to Barcelona. They carry wines from non Catalonian regions too.
Awesome Spanish restaurant, jumpstarted our trip to SJO on a positive with the help of our server Rodrigo who took care of bringing to our table his choice of tapas and our paella. Definitely a highly recommended place. Delicious food and good choices of Spanish wine. Excellent service!
This place is over rated for sure. All of us had upset stomach the next day. We came here because of the rating but the food is disappointing. It’s probably good for office lunch since it’s right across from Samsung office building but if you want to have a nice dinner with good food, would not recommend. We ordered classic paella for two people. The portion was small and the rice was undercooked. It felt like an after-thought dish. For the NY steak tapa, we ordered medium but it came with well-done and the steak was very ordinary. Other than that, outdoor seating service was not good at all. We were neglected many times from ordering to getting checks. Our order was missed and nobody checked on us for a long time until we had to go inside to ask for check.
A great Spanish restaurant, offering tasty Spanish food. Not stingy on the amount. Great service. Probably my favorite Spanish restaurant in the South Bay. A bit on the pricey side. Great for a diner date.
Highly recommend to celebrate an special occasion such as birthdays, graduations, for sure, they take care of you. They have live music on weekends, beautiful atmosphere, great service and delicious food. We had a few tapas including chorizo al tinto. Paella - Arroz Mar was our main course and creme brulee for dessert. The red sangria was delicious and refreshing. I will be coming back to La Catalana. Parking: There is easy parking access.
The mushrooms were all right, as were the sliders. I enjoyed both. Service was friendly slow, but maybe they were short staffed. The paella was quite bad in both taste and texture *awful* clams, and extremely expensive for the trouble. Disappointing.
Memorable place, food and service. My server Josh was amazing, he went above and beyond. Will definitely have to make it a destination every time I come to San Jose.
Busy little Spanish tapas restaurant. Food is made with care, some of the flavor pairs were very innovative and everything was great.Food: 5/5
A local joule with great food and nice jazz duet in the weekend. Also unforgettable service make it a definite come back again!
