My dad had raved about this place and the "good old times" back when he and his pals would eat here late at night after a few drinks out. This was my first visit at La Cucaracha. On a Friday at 2 PM it was surprisingly close to empty-no trouble getting seated, but we sat at the bar anyways. Great looking menu with a generous selection. I went easy and ordered chips & guac along with 3 beef tacos. The chips were great, guac was fresh and plentiful. Tacos were arguably one of the best prepared I've had in a while. I highly recommend La Cucaracha for both the atmosphere and the delicious food. Service was great, but again, I experienced a near-vacant restaurant so I can't speak about the service if it were busy. I'm curious about the 4.0* rating...The food was great and the people are friendly. This was my first visit but I would bet I would say the same things a second visit. Definitely will be coming back soon.

Fresh as well as delicious food and drinks! The staff is a team that aims to please. They will treat you like family. Atmosphere is fun and comfortable. I highly recommend.

The food is good and the portions are quite large. Prices are slightly spendy for Mexican food, though. Chips & guac is almost $15 (granted, it could probably feed 3 people). You don't get chips and salsa for free. The staff was friendly and prompt and food came quickly. Someone else on here complained about their margarita coming in a plastic cup -- mine was in a normal glass cup. For $9 though, I've had better margaritas elsewhere. I would come back again, but if you're looking for "cheap" authentic Mexican, this is not the place.

Subpar Mexican food. Their salsa tasted more like a tomato paste than salsa. Their style of Mexican food was Tex Mex but not a good version of it.
