Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanic Gardens

Great place to come and unwind, especially with family. They have a nice path around the lake that is filled with little stops to check out. They have specific programs for the kids and everything there is pretty interactive for them. I highly recommend to come here during the spring as all the little ducklings are everywhere. Plus, photos here come out great, especially at sunset.

This a beautiful little nature preserve tucked away in the south burbs. Man made lake. Nice 1 mile trail wrapped around. Right next to the Cal-Sag Trail if you want a very long walk, running, or biking. Canoeing in the warmer months. Activities for kids inside. Check the schedule throughout the year for holiday and seasonal fun as well.

Lake Katherine is a very popular site for wedding pictures. Professional photographers must obtain a permit in advance. This is a beautiful nature center with a lake and a multistage man made waterfall. There are hiking trails and in Spring and Summer and Kayaks are available to rent to use on the lake.There is also a site for weddings with a banquet hall. This is also a popular location used by a star gazing club. Around Halloween there are free hayrides. Around the 4th ov July there is a very good free fireworks display.

This place is amazing. A little bit of nature privacy greenery and color in the midst of a very populated urban area. You feel like you're so far away from all the congestion and Noise. Beautiful trees flowers and you see different kind of birds Ducks swans Etc.

Beautiful place to take your kids, grandparents, parents or anybody that you want to go on a walk with take beautiful pictures. You could even rent out a hall there for baby showers birthday I think weddings Etc.
