If I can order everything on that menu I woulddd! I had the salmon burger and my friend had the mushroom sandwich and it was so so good. I couldn’t even tell if it was chicken or mushroom. There was so much flavor, your test but are definitely gonna be thanking you. If your an rush/and it’s busy definitely order head. Outside seating is available also
I was happy that I got to finally visit here and try the vegan griot. Overall, the food was very good and I enjoyed the vegan griot and thought this was a creative dish to put on their menu. Furthermore, the chickpeas patty was very good. The only thing is the customer service could be a little better where guests feel more welcomed at the establishment, otherwise great food and nice ambience.
Delicious spinach patty and the best soup joumou. Mèsi The ginger lime aid is awesome as well. They have a great selection of cultural books, and art displayed on the wall. They accommodate their customers with out door seating, which makes it a pet friendly place. They had my favorite cookie: chocolate chip…and it was soft. Vegan options are so accommodating.
I ordered a ginger pineapple juice which was ok. I also ordered vegan plantain porridge, vegan coconut chickpea crepe and fried mushroom sandwich. The porridge was as expected. The crepe was bland and I received a chicken sandwich instead of the mushroom which was extremely disappointing. I spent $49 and wasn’t able to at least eat everything.
Great breakfast and brunch spot, looks like there’s some good weekend brunch specials too, will def check out next time. Food is made with love. Fried chicken sandwich was amazing, well seasoned. Also comes with side of sweet plantains which were cooked to perfection. Side salad ok, love the pikliz. Quite a few sandwiches to choose from. Egg fromage crepe was a yummy, egg/cheese/spinach/onion omelette packed with flavor. Sweet crepes and savory patties also available. Latte and cappuccino was on point. Love the art and vibes, playlist with a mix of soca and early 2000s hip hop was music to my ears. Felt like home. Few outdoor seating tables also available.
Second time visiting NYC! My first time ever since being in America that I have found great Haitian inspired food to eat! Great food! Great service! My sister and I got their Haitian Boulette Baguette sandwich, fried Plaintain, Vegan Griot, Hot cocoa, Lakou Delight smoothie, and Ginger double shot. Everything was absolutely amazing! ABSOLUTELY recommend this restaurant!
So I had the soup here and it was absolutely wonderful. It was nice and hot filled with potatoes vegetables and the regular j o u m o u flavoring. I also had a veggie patty. I like the way the bread is very soft and crunchy at the same time. Now customer service was good however I was charged a tip I did not bother to leave a tip however the staff member placed in the tip. This is not fair this is not good practice. Please change the card swipe so it does not charge your customer a tip this is at the discretion of your customer. The next thing that's an issue for me I rolled up in there 11:00 a.m. why was music blasting so loud I had to repeat myself three times and ask the staff member who was taking my order what did she say over and over again. There's no reason why the music should be playing so very loudly. If you need to stay up drink a cup of coffee. I think that took away from the enjoyment of wanting to stay and possibly just gather in the front or even sit for a minute. I do hope on my next return these things have changed otherwise I know a number of other Haitian restaurants they may not be in the neighborhood but they do listen to their customers and try to improve upon what we ask of them. So keep up the good work with the food and hopefully I'll see you again and try something new.
Compared to authentic Haitian restaurants in Canarsie or Miami this place fell short. The flavors are really good just not authentic. The patties and smoothies are really good. 100% recommend for vegans.
This has been on my list of places to go for some time, and I'm glad I finally had the chance to check it out. Met up with some friends here for dinner. I got the legume and added beef to mine and of course I had to get some banan peze fried plantains. The pikliz had a nice kick to it! Everything was so good and tasted so authentic! I also purchased some Haitian peanut butter to go. They were out of Haitian bread, so I just need to get my hands on some so I can get the real feel of Haitian bread with Haitian peanut butter.
Delicious!! I will say that we chose to sit down as we were away from home and we really really really really love the food. I will say that the food took quite some time to make which is understandable the food warranted time and preparation. But the only thing that made it hard to sit inside was the smoke kind of burning my eyes. And that was everybody in my party not just me. Anyways that being said I still really enjoyed the food it was tasty it was healthy and I will definitely come back
