Great place for a date night, family fun, or chill time alone. It’s cold lol, so dress in layers. Has plenty of parking too. Not sure why the concession stand was closed missed opportunities. I had to get food elsewhere. I heard they had good food was looking forward to trying some good eats. $3 sessions as well.
Great place to learn ice skating in Philadelphia for kids & adults. Coaches are awesome and helpful in boosting confidence & learning curve. Ice skating classes runs from Late October to Early June. Between June to October you can do roller skating here. Parking is free.
This place has came along way. With the low price of $3free if you have your own skates, how can anyone resist.
Great statehouse and always a good time there!
We haven't been here since the renovations, was very surprised to see, looks great, staff AWESOME.
Clean, well stocked, staff is helpful and cordial. I am not thrilled with the selections but I enjoy the veggies and this weeks home products. Every week meat and fish selections change; I love the uncured turkey bacon, lemons reasonable; don't buy the navel oranges; ground coffee. However, if you don't mind off brand goods it can be a great place to buy. I do plan to continue to shop there. Good luck!
Rink itself was cool. Especially the people behind the counter. The skating director however is a different story. I am a senior level skater from Sharks Ice. I went there one day with my mom to video tape some skating elements on a public session. The director approached me to ask if she could hire me as a coach for skating school. But instead, she misled me while disrespecting my qualifications. After six weeks, and after getting all the necessary paperwork and paying the feestook at least a week, Sultana tells me I have to volunteer. She hired a lower level skater in my place who had no actual coaching experience started skating few years ago. Then she took me out of the show knowing I was preparing to perform. This was 2 months before my Mom was diagnosed with Cancer. I realized years later that this is just a reflection of Philadelphia as a whole. My replacement was unqualified and could only do single jumps. Moreover, they ended up leaving before the show as their University classes ended. 9 months later, around the time my Mom passed, a young woman saw me training and asked if I could give her nieces private lessons. I had paid for insurance to coach until the next year as this was a requirement upon getting hired. Still, someone let Sultana know and they brought it up at their next board meeting. The next time I went to the rink I was told "you can't coach here because you don't have the proper insurance." I knew it was a lie but I was sick and tired of life by this point. I'm not exactly sure why Sultana hired me to begin with. I was just there to skate. I have seen pettiness at rinks before, but never like this. Everything was backwards here. She didn't like it that I had my own technique of coaching and wanted me to conform to hers; even though her students never improved. When I approached her about this respectfully minus the lack of her student improvement, she resorted to screaming at me in front of other skaters. Such an unprofessional and toxic environment. I will never go back to this rink again.
It's always less crowded than other skating rinks in the city. Admission was free and skate rentals were affordable.
Low cost of rental skates. Only 3 dollars. And free admission! What's not to love? The staff is great to talk to. If you ever want classes, ask for Sultana or Jimi. The classes are really good and cheap compared to the UPenn rink. Its $60 for 6 lessons while is almost 200 for the same amount of lessons.
This place is never open never have the right information on the website. Just sad and disappointment in our community
