Very very very good spicy Italian beef sandwich, I'd say the best you can get outside of Chicago. The chilli dog was slammin'. The only issue; I wish they were larger portions, but maybe it's for the best! Great place Highly recommend.Food: 5/5
Best lil restaurant in St. Matthews with an old school vibe. The dogs are delicious and so reasonably priced! The service is warm and friendly! Love the Chicago memorabilia. I cherish this place with all the glam and overpriced restaurants that have infiltrated the area, Lonnie’s is classic!Food: 5/5
Hands-down the best authentic “Chicago-style” dog in Louisville. Nothing fancy, just friendly folks serving some delicious dogs. The Clark Street is amazing and is my personal favorite. It can get crowded extremely fast in here, and parking is abysmal, but it’s worth it.Food: 5/5
The Chicago dog was as close to the original Chicago dog as possible. They use cucumber slices here instead of pickle strips still tasty . Tried the chili cheese dog, too. It was good. The fries and onion rings were delicious and hot out of the fryer. There are no refills on the Coca-Cola products they serve. Parking: There is a small alley next to Lonnie's to park in the back. There are concrete poles, so be careful. There is parking next door also. It is tight but parkable.
Great little restaurant that serves hot dogs, hamburgers, Italian beef sandwiches. Service was friendly and food came quickly. Added pictures of the menu below. If you’re in the area, stop by for lunch!Food: 5/5
Great atmosphere, food is really close to authentic. Been away from home too long, this place hit so good.Food: 5/5
One of the best hot dogs I've ever eaten. I have eaten hot dogs in Chicago and IMO this establishment embodies and surpasses everything about that experience. Super friendly people running it and always a must whenever I come to Louisville to brewery hop or catch a show. A+Food: 5/5
Very good chili cheese dogs made by Lonnie himself. Family run business and very friendly hotdog was tasty but of course, sloppy to eat as one would expect. I enjoy the crinkle fries and they do have soft drinks, but no sweet tea and no free refills. I thought the price was very reasonable for my lunch. I look forward to going back again with a few friends for lunch.
I love hot dogs, especially Chicago and Chili hot dogs, and I gave traveled to 45 states. Lonnie"s Chicago hot is the only place outside of Chicago that looks looks and tastes like true Chicago hot dogs. As a matter of fact, Lonnie Chicago hot dog tastes better than most in Chicago. The frys are great too, always hot. The italian beef is great, too
The food is good and the closest your going to get to an Italian beef in Louisville… but the vibe is horrible especially if your African American! You so can tell your treated very different as soon as you appear. My husband been rocking with these people for years and eating there food ever since they was located on Bardstown road but we still get the shady vibe. We probably would go there more if we was welcomed but we get the the disgusting look each time…Somedays I rather drive to Chicago and probably feel more welcome…but my dollars spend the same way as everyone else’s! And I work in a professional setting but I would never make anyone feel any different and I would probably recommend this spot to others but I never do because I wouldn’t want them to get the same vibe I do.
