I see a lot of negativity towards this establishment. Fact is, you couldn't be further from the truth. This establishment gives what you put into it! If you go in trying to shirt tail people the whole time obviously you won't learn much. I am currently in Marn9 (diesel). I couldn't begin to explain what I've learned. The instructors are wise, funny, and only there to help. If you don't understand something, ask. Most instructors are master techs in their chosen manufacturer and are very willing to help (given you have the drive to learn). Very excited to get into the field and start making some $$

I am 16 years old ( a junior in high school) and got hired at a boat service/repair shop at 15 years old and i'm still currently working there. I have learned a lot of things at this boat shop and i would like to make a career out of the marine field. I really want to go here but i feel like there is some hidden things that aren't good. I would like to know what actually goes on here before i graduate high school and make the decision to go here.

Terrible school. Men are treated like children. The staff has ripped me apart financially. From the 30k tuition, moving here, and them changing my class without telling me (made me lose my job and have to find another), to go to school here you might as well have 100k saved up. And for what? This school replicates 1 year shop exp. A couple more bucks an hour? Because that’s all you’ll get from here. Before I left for this school my boss even told me (owner of marina) that MMI is a waste
Of time and hard earned money. Still trying to figure out why the school makes 30k off each student, with hundreds of students I don’t understand why we aren’t equipped with ALL new product. This is the premier marine school to my understanding right? Because that’s how y’all sure advertise. Yet most of my time spent on motors in this course are 80s/90s motors. WHY, in a day and age of so much advancement in these motors are we working on something that old. Yes the concept is fun, but not knowing how to work on current manufacturer product as a tech will run you into the ground. The program needs shaped up, the management there is absurd. Working with them feels like talking to a wall. And every corner they have to charge me they find it. This is a MONEY HUNGRY greed filled undeveloped marine training facility.

This school was an amazing blessing for me. All of the instructors are very knowledgeable and will go out of their way to help students understand the material. It is affordable and they will help you find funding to assist with tuition. This is the only school you want to go to if you are considering a career in the marine industry.

After being accepted I decided not to go based how expensive the it is. Even after FAFSA I would've had 10 grand to worry about, whether that be paying with grants, loans or out of pocket.
In-housing sounded like jail...5 or 6 people in a 3 bedroom apartment at the cheapest. All In-housing options are not cheap...rent a room on your own if you go.
I work at a marine service shop now and they said word for word "We're glad you didn't go, that school is a joke. Everyone that comes from there goes by the books and doesn't know the problems a mechanic faces."
"You'd just end up learning how to disassemble and reassemble an engine that's been done a thousand times."
Representatives are very helpful and will always return your call if not answered.
Based on my research and experience I would recommend doing grunt work for a service shop to get schooling paid for by the company. Or go to school somewhere like Mercury where you'll get certified and not just given a certificate of completion.
This school is quick to start and finish if you have the money and is Well Known. It opens up a large range of doors. Don't expect to become a mechanic after graduation. Repair and Replace will be your strong points from MMI. Don't finish schooling here.
