I’ve been going to Ruben for 8 years now - since the Freemans days. Ruben is, without question, the most skilled, attentive & detail-oriented barber I’ve ever met. Great listener & will work with you to craft an excellent hairstyle, including both edgy & more classic styles. I also appreciate that Ruben is very skilled with different types of hair - including my very difficult-to-manage Asian hair. Ruben has helped change up my hairstyle at least 5 times and they’ve all looked great. Highly recommend Ruben & the MOI crew for your next cut!

Pretty unprofessional and I wouldn’t trust anything at this place. I’ve been coming here to see Rosie for the last year she does a phenomenal job. I’ve been trying to get an appointment with her for the last month or so and management kept scheduling me telling me she was out of town in hopes that I would just get my hair cut by someone else knowing full well she had moved on to a new location. Just tell it how it is and be honest instead of being shady in hopes of retaining business that you didn’t actually acquire yourself but your rather your barber built her loyal book of business.

Stood outside for 40 mins in the cold since they didn’t open on time and then my barber, Marshall, said he needs to cut someone else’s hair, skipping my appointment. Disrespectful.

Matter of Instinct is the best barbershop I've ever been to. Prices are beyond reasonable for NYC and the quality is far about what you pay for. The shop is always clean and welcoming. I highly recommend booking with Rosie. I have a habit of letting my hair get overgrown and she always does a masterful job - the best haircuts I've ever had.
