Best merchandise in town when it comes to personal fitness. I'll be stopping by Modell's for my stand up punching & kicking bag. Their the place to go to beef up your home gym. Trust me there's no place like them in the city. Tough location, but even tougher work out equipment you know what I mean...

Came in to buy flip flops, err, "slides" they had those. The selection of sizes weren't the best but this is the only sporting goods store in this section of the City. They even sell New Balance 990s.

My most recent experience with this store was calling to find out whether or not they carried lacrosse mesh and supplies for stringing lacrosse heads. The lady who answered the phone first asked me to hold while she transferred me to the "sporting goods department" (the whole store?). After a while, another person answered and asked me to hold once again. Then, a third person answered, who again asked me to hold after I asked my question. Finally, a fourth person answered the phone who informed me, after I asked my question for a fourth time, that the store does not carry any lacrosse merchandise at all.
It took four people to figure out that there isn't anything lacrosse related in the entire store, a store located in a part of the country that lives and breathes lacrosse. I can't understand why that is, or why none of the employees seem to have noticed they don't carry any lacrosse stuff. Maybe they just don't care ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Before you ask, yes, I have physically been to and shopped at this location several times before. Each time, I remember thinking I wouldn't go there again. Which brings me to the reason I'm giving this Modell's two stars instead of one. It exists. It's an actual sporting goods store (not some lululemon kind of lifestyle jogging yoga store) within the DC city limits, which makes it very rare if not unique. If there were any alternative within a similar distance from my home or office, I'd go there.
