Monmouth Battlefield State Park

We went to the battlefield with a metal detector in Hope of finding something from the battle's time period. We went down the hill and over a bridge to a large field and started detecting. Sadly, it was cold and windy, so we only stayed there for a short time. The best thing that we found was a 1979 dime. It was a good trip.

Locals should take a hour or two and take in some local history. The battle was significant and took place in our back yards. It's also a nice ride out to the Highlands following the British retreat route. Then have lunch/dinner at the shore.

I went with a group of people who enjoy hiking in and around Monmouth County. The hiking here is moderate with nice scenery, and some historical background of the American revolution.

This is where MOLLY PITCHER became famous and every year in June they have a huge reenactment. The museum is a great place to visit.

Beautiful well kept park with interesting information on the Battle of Monmouth during the Revolutionary War. Nice walking, biking trails.
