Restored tow path provides great hiking or biking, scenic views of the Delaware River that parallels the path. Lots of River towns along the way are good lunch stops. Picturesque Delaware River bridges provide pedestrian crossings that bring you from New Jersey to Pennsylvania where there is a parallel Canal Towpath that can you loop back to your starting point.

A wonderful park to walk, ride your bike, kayak or canoe along the canal. One of our favorites all year long. We frequently spot various species of herons, egrets, other birds, deer, beavers, musk rats, and plenty of turtles sunbathing on logs or rocks. At Summer sunsets, thousands of fireflies illuminate meadows flanking the canal. One also hears and sometimes sees bull frogs. The most beautiful areas are between East Milltown and Rocky Hill, where the vegetation is very dense, and the river is very close to the canal.

Great historic trail traveling through several towns and 40+ miles. Trail conditions vary based on the town in which it resides. Very easy terrain throughout and a good place for a hike or bike.

A perfect place for walking and running. There is often shade when it’s hot in the summer. If you look closely you can see many painted turtle rested on logs in the canal!
