Traditional Zen practice in the heart of New Orleans. Daily zazen, retreats, introduction to practice, and supplies.

Story

Founded in 1983 by abbot emeritus Robert Livingston Roshi, the New Orleans Zen Temple provides a place to practice the Zen tradition as transmitted by Master Taisen Deshimaru. The temple is housed in a historic building in the Arts District, built in 1831 and once the site of Cosimo Matassa's Jazz City recording studio. Richard Collins, Abbot. "Monday and Friday mornings at 6:30 am we have Zazen. Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7 pm we have Zazen. Sunday at 10 am, we have Zazen followed by ceremony and refreshments. If you need a refresher on how to do Zazen, please arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled session. Zazen is open for participants of all experience levels." - taken from their website.
