Story

Founded in 1983 by abbot emeritus Robert Livingston Roshi, the New Orleans Zen Temple provides a place to practice the Zen tradition as transmitted by Master Taisen Deshimaru. The temple is housed in a historic building in the Arts District, built in 1831 and once the site of Cosimo Matassa's Jazz City recording studio. Richard Collins, Abbot. "Monday and Friday mornings at 6:30 am we have Zazen.

Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7 pm we have Zazen.

Sunday at 10 am, we have Zazen followed by ceremony and refreshments.

If you need a refresher on how to do Zazen, please arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled session. Zazen is open for participants of all experience levels." - taken from their website.
