Pretty good first time experience. We got the grilled yellowtail and mackerel for our appetizers. Both were good and I would get them again though I probably wouldn't do two grilled white fish again with so many other protein options. The shrimp tempura meal was okay. In my opinion it lacked some flavoring but I did like all the different tempura vegetables and my fiancee really liked it. The chuka noodles with chicken was definitely my favorite. The tangy sauce made the noodles really flavorful. Wil definitely get again. The dragon roll was good, and would recommend if you like dragon rolls.
Good food, service, and atmosphere. This is a long standing authentic Japanese restaurant and everything we tried was delicious. The fried soft shell crab was crispy and fresh. The scallop was our favorite, so fresh and juicy and tender. Takoyaki balls and fried oysters were also delicious. The yakitori was not as juicy as the ones I’ve had before.
Nice experience. A little busy on a Sunday night, full house. With a little patience it all worked out. Recommend Futomaki, vegetable sushi roll. All the flavors were great, overall a very nice experience.Food: 5/5
Nippon is the best Japanese restaurant in the USA. The authentic food tastes perfectly like it did in Japan. The sushi is amazing and great. The Katsudon is incredible! I also usually get the Tonkatsu Dinner which is filling and delicious. This is the only Japanese restaurant that added TekuMaki which is Tuna with cucumber rolls. I searched everywhere for this. We eat here at least weekly and I was shocked to find that I didn’t post it yet. The Yakitori is deliscious. The Chicken Karaagi is great Fried Chicken. Pictures to follow. Katsudon is the best. I spent 19 years stationed in Japan. This food is off the Charts! We have been coming here for almost two years so far. Vegetarian options: There is plenty on the menus for vegetarian eaters. All is delicious. Parking: The parking is a bit tight. But if full just come back about thirty minutes later. A spot will open up. Kid-friendliness: You can get sushi without wasabi for kids. They have a kids menu. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchairs can fit in here well.
Good food quality with affordable price. I love the bento box. The salmon was grilled to the right degree and the rice tasted so mochimochichewy. I especially like the fact that they serve Japanese wafu salad before the bento! Beautiful, balanced meal in the right order. My tummy thanked me for choosing this place! Many Japanese restaurants in Houston are actually not owned by Japanese. nippon I believe is one of the few restaurants that run by Japanese.
Love this place!!! Food is delicious and well priced! I wish I lived closer, I'd come here every week if I could.Food: 5/5
Absolutely amazing experience at Nippon! We tried a bit of everything, couldn’t be happier with the freshness and taste of all the dishes. The waitresses were all welcoming. Overall one of the best sushi and ramen experiences we’ve ever had. Would definitely come back when we visit Houston.Recommended dishesKatsu Curry, Asari Butter, Nigiri, Mackerel, Salmon Sashimi Combination
Unique signature sushi, so good! Loved the tiger Roll, the jalapeno tempura was so tasty. Excited to come back and try their other rolls. Beautiful display and romantic atmosphere. We had their plum wine, it was the right amount of sweet served in a classy small flute glass.
We have been coming to Nippon for more than 25 years, and the food never disappoints. Great to see some of the same staff here for all of those years! We now live a few states away and this is our first visit here since the Pandemic. It was great. Tonight's stand our rolls were the Caterpillar Roll and the Naoki Roll. The vegetable tempura was great as well.
Didn’t expect much because of high food mix in the menu ramen, sushi, sashimi, tempura, bento etc BUT was positively surprised. Ramen was super flavorful and tasty. Also sushi roll was great had caterpillar Rel authentic Japanese next-door placeFood: 5/5
