The place is small and cozy. It is an open kitchen where you get to see the chefs make the food. I was there for the breakfast sets and everything was amazingly good. The fish was moist and flavorful. The vegetables and pickles were light and refreshing. The egg was custardy and buttery. It was a delicious breakfast without feeling heavy. Service is great and well-paced to aid in rotating the people in their limited amount of space. Even though it is pricey for a breakfast, I see myself coming back for great Japanese style breakfast.
This is a nice ramen shop which is very similar to those in Japan . 12 seats only. Small menu which changes seasonally. They offer Mazemen which is very nice. Staff of 2 people are nice. Moderately clean facilities. Public restroom. Food is good. Small portions. Reasonably priced. Credit cards are accepted. Reservations are highly recommended. We will definitely be going back. i called before my party of three arrived for the YUJI Ramen and were told that we were able to walk-in without a reservation. when we arrived, we had to wait for a table to no-show before we were able to sit. i thought the ambience of the restaurant was ok…it is very small, only seats 12 so you would think the food would be super flavorful. the presentations of the dishes were great, but the flavor was lacking. of the two dishes i got, the “spicy” ramen and the potatoes, both could use some salt for the future. the ramen broth did not contain any depth, it just felt like i was drinking some water with oil and “spices” in it. the potatoes were just not that good either. i probably won’t be back for YUJI, but i am eager to try OKONOMI one of these days. Dietary restrictions: All fish based broths, no pork.
Came here for brunch on a Sunday - reservations are needed as they don’t accept walk in there are only 12 seats. The service was great, as was the food. The fish was cooked perfectly and the side vegetables/miso soup was delicious. We got both a regular $30and a large set $38. Personally, I don’t think the 2 extra side vegetables were worth the $8 difference. However, all in all, it was a pleasant meal and I would recommend it.
Walked in on a weekday, very cute small setting. Set menu. Miso soup, seasonal vegetables, variety of fish. Presentation is wonderful, light, not too heavy. The tea is a really nice touch too
I came here with my friends at 8:30pm on Friday with reservations. I was excited to try this spot as it was my first time but my friends have been here before. We ordered 1 appetizer to share the scallop dish 1 mazemen to share and we each ordered a ramen with onsen egg. The scallop was good and so was the mazemen but the ramen was straight up flavorless. I was expecting more flavor based on how highly rated this spot is + the cost. My friends also agreed that today’s ramen has no depth or body. Mind you we’re no food critics we’re average people. I’m usually impressed by the most basic dishes. The server we had also was pretty rude. My friend asked for hot water and after 10 minutes it didn’t come. No biggie we reminded him and he then said “there’s a lot going on here I’ll bring it later.” I’m not really sure what he meant by that. Did he mean physically there’s a lot of items? As you can see from the photos there’s plenty of space. And we just wanted a cup of hot water not a pitcher. If you don’t have hot water just say you don’t. Along with that we felt like we were being ignored. We tried to order but had to play that awkward game of eye contact. Eventually we just said excuse me slightly loud to get their attention to order. And same to pay and leave. Overall I’d not come back the waiter was rude and food had no flavor.
Food was really good, I got the tonkatsu ramen option, which is a heavier broth compared to the Shoyu option. They also get the fish from the market for the day so the menu constantly changes everyday. If one portion was not enough, you can order a noodle refill which gives you a decent amount for round 2 if you have broth leftover. Keep in mind they will ONLY give you noodles. It is a small shop with two tables and a counter that sits four people each, an open kitchen to see them make the food and a cozy environment. You might have to wait to get seated since it is a small place, it is best to call ahead and reserve and book a time. Dietary restrictions: Not much options for vegans as most of the food options are served with fish broth for the ramen and fish they get on the day for the other options. Theres a salad and appetizers, not entirely sure what else qualifies. Wheelchair accessibility: No Ramp to get in.
Cute 12-seater that serves up Japanese breakfast/brunch set meal "Ichiku Sansai" - here, a platter of 5 items that was enough to fill me up for the rest of the day but not for peeps who need like "proper/heavy" lunch la. A rice bowl, an onsen egg, a bowl of miso soup, and pickles to accompany a piece of grilled swordfish, seasonal raddish in a light "goma" dressing, some broiled veg, sweet potatoes and that nice eggy dessert will take you down memory lane into Edo era . Light, bright, and supremely yumz, the backstop of this place from what I've read is that the chef actually never worked in a professional kitchen before ...until he was hired as a prep cook at his eventual business partner's restaurant.
Wonderful Japanese breakfast that felt like being back in Kyoto. So much flavor and thoughtfulness in every component of the even the standard breakfast set. Definitely recommend adding on the onsen egg to mix in with the rice. Really excellent meal! Reservations are good to have on busy days.
Such a cozy and unique brunch experience. The deceptively filling traditional Japanese breakfast had a simple flavors that allowed the quality of the ingredients to shine through. The ambience is calm and intimate due to the small size of the restaurant and ability to watch the food being cooked. Make sure you make a reservation about 2 weeks in advance!
