I have stopped in there on my way to White River and to trips between North Carolina and Vermont since the late 80's. I stopped and ate there on12/05 and I must say that the prices have gotten kind of high. I had a cup of corn chowder and a BLT and my daughter had a cheese burger and a salad bar and the bill came to $27 dollars. Then on top of it I didn't order the corn chowder I orders the the hamburg macaroni soup. My daughter had a soda and I had a cup of coffee and water to drink. My Dad and I stopped in there last week and had coffee, water, and a cup of soup and payed almost $15. I personally feel that the prices have gotten a little ridiculous for what you are getting and the service is lacking. The food is good as it has always been but I feel with the amount of people that stop in there, and I'm pretty sure that they have regulars that probably eat there multiple times a day/week that they are charging coat and tie prices for country cooking. I don't mind paying for a good meal but let's face it I was eating soup and a sandwich, not steaks and baked potatoes or lobster.

EXPENSIVE !!!
The prices here used to be very reasonable. Someone is trying to get rich with this place now. I felt violated financially when I left. Few miles away in woodsville has cheaper options.
Also waitstaff is a bunch of clucking hens who felt their loud conversations were more important than taking my order.
Not impressed !

Our go to destination when we are in the area. Best deserts around, great simple food and plenty of it.

I used to go out here with my buddies at 2am to buy $50 worth of pie when I grew up in Barre! Great food and you can get fuel and CB radio equipment! Need more places like this around!

Seriously one of the best diner spots in Vermont. My personal favorite is the French toast made with homemade cinnamon bread, served with real maple syrup. Plus, pies! Always leave room for pie.
