Pleasants Hardware

Older reviews for these stores, prior to the change in ownership and operations are no longer accurate. After a change in ownership when the Sauer family of Richmond (as in spices and real estate, which is why the Pleasant's downtown was demolished) sold these stores to a tidewater group and a change from ACE affiliation these stores are in flux. You come to independent hardware stores to find those hard to locate items and for experienced and helpful staff, but that comes at a cost- higher prices. Now, the inventory in this store is not what it was and the staff offers to special order items so you can come back another time to pick them up. There are discounts for seniors and Vets, but ACE and other discounts are gone.

If you need specialty hardware, this is the place to go. An adequate number of clerks to help you and they know their stuff. If it's in the store, they will find it. Prices are higher than Home Depot or Lowes but service is better. Was an Ace Hardware but was bought out by Do-It-Best last year. Still a good, smaller hardware store.

I have always been treated well by the staff at this store. I have made multiple purchases here all year round for the past 5 years and the usually have what I need and always offer their professional advice. I love having this store in my neighborhood.
