We had a terrible experience at Rimfire. We love Snowshoe, but will never stay at one of the Snowshoe managed properties again. The toilet overflowed and it was several hours before we were moved to another room. We had to find a public restroom to utilize. And we were told to stay by the phone in the room and wait for a call about a new room. When we were moved, it was to the other side of the building. We had to change lockers for all our ski equipment and we missed at least two hours of skiing. The fireplace didn't work in the new room, but we were just too over it to complain. The staff person at Allegheny Springs where we had to pick up our new room key was extremely rude and I heard her talking about a guest who called for additional towels while I was waiting. When we ultimately requested some kind of credit through a manager for Snowshoe rental properties, we never received a call back as promised.
Don't waste your money.

The location to the slopes is the best part of this hotel. The apartment-style suites with fully stocked kitchens and a spacious living area brings a home-y feel. The ease of access to the parking garage and Starbucks is also clutch.

This place looks like it is straight out of the 70's. It looks like it once had that cabin appeal but it's never been updated since. My particular room was only partially cleaned; there was a half cup of coffee, a half full coffee pot and an almost empty glass of water on the table when we first checked into the room. Pretty off-putting.
Also, the hot tub bleached our bathing suits and made our legs itch/burn....WAY too much chlorine or other chemicals. Unfortunately the front desk didn't seem to care that our bathing suits were ruined.
The upside is that you are right in the village and are close to plenty of things to do.

We recently stayed at the Rimfire Lodge with a group of 4 of us in a room during March 6-8, 2015. The location is great right where you can walk out the back entrance and be in the center of the Village with a Starbucks basically in the lobby. The two hot tubs and gym were great! We never did find a spot in the underground heated parking garage, but it only has about 50 spots to begin with and they are very tight even for a sedan. There is a dirt parking lot across the street that you can park at.
Now for the bad news, all the condos are privately owned so they are not regulated like a hotel. Hence why the bed we had and the pull out couch in room 205 were the worse beds we've ever slept on and I woke up both nights at 5am in pain hoping the slopes would open soon. So do your research on the exact place you rent before booking it.
Snowshoe is by far one of the nicest ski resorts I've ever been to and at a reasonable price. We've been skiing in almost all of the resorts in the south and a fair amount in New England and Colorado. I love the village area as well as the fact that the entire mountain runs right up to most of the lodging buildings so you can hit any slope from any resort building. Highly recommended for all skier types because a good majority of the slopes are easy to intermediate and the snow conditions are great!

Rimfire is a dump. Sad that the money is being re-invested back into the buildings. The room photos are misleading and the staff is not friendly at all! Seems the owners are aware that college students are staying there and are taking advantage of the situation. Parking in bad in the parking garage.
