We had breakfast here and our waitress Virginia was very accommodating and friendly. Very good service, delicious French toast, and roasted potatoes with sunny side eggs. Very cozy restaurant that’s located near the beach :

Drinks are good, food not so good. We ordered the brussel sprouts and the crab cakes for apps. I sort of like the former as it included cauliflower as well for some variety. I wish it had had more cheese sprinkled on it. Quantity was about right for app. The crab cakes are for crab balls that are deep fried, a bit too much in our case and left the crab a bit chewy inside. For the main, we went for the blackened fish tacos. They come out looking great. Some nice detail is clearly applied for the presentation but the fish has almost no flavor and the salsa was lacking where fresh cilantro would have helped. The fish looked like it was baked with one side having some seasoning but clearly not pan “blackened” for added flavor. Overall one of the most boring fish tacos you can get in the area. A few folks seem to be getting there oysters which are hard to ruin and the recommended drink special off menu was enjoyed by my wife. The current digs are an improvement over what we recall with the previous owner and they had put some effort into reducing the “live” acoustics of the place making it more enjoyable for having a conversation. Parking can be a problem in the summer especially when the waves are up. They do not cover your parking costs a in the public lot, even after 3pm when the price drops and there is no other place to park outside the in parking area, making it a tough place for a restaurant to reach out to the general public that isn’t in walking distance.

Our 50th wedding anniversary family celebration was an outstanding success at The Shade: absolutely excellent food, with.wonderful staff which helped make our event so enjoyable. The staff even helped entertain the 5 young children! We couldn’t be more enthusiastic in recommending The Shade for either a dinner or an „event“. Thanks again to all those at The Shade who contributed to our sensational get-together!

The food and drinks were incredible! January was our server and she was outstanding! All of our food choices Oysters, Crab sandwich and Halibut were on point! Great job to all the staff!

Came down last Wednesday! Amazing food but whoever makes those salads does some spectacular stuff! Also front desk is super friendly. Came for breakfast the next day, blown away with the quality, their chef has some real talent! A++

Waited 10 minutes to be seated, with an Open Table reservation. Bartender was nice but kept apologizing for the wait and kept asking the servers where the manager was. Manager, who we later found out was Abigail, never came but one of the servers finally sat us. We opted to sit at the bar because our high top was not available and we were starving. Bartender, Heather, seemed overwhelmed by the amount of tickets she was getting for drink orders. We got our drinks, they were both great. Wanted oysters but they were sold out. We should have finished our drinks and left, like another couple did when they found out there were no oysters because the rest of the visit was just very meh and underwhelming. Caesar salad was ok. Fish tacos were good, except the tortilla was not even remotely done in the inside. Abigail, the "manager" was the most miserable of all the staff and there were only 1-2 who did NOT appear overwhelmed and miserable, including the server who sat us and the bartender. We witnessed Abigail rolling her eyes towards a server, which I think was in response to the bartender, who quite frankly, was the best out of the staff we encountered. Abigail would often leave the restaurant and then there would guests waiting to be seated, similar to our experience when we first got there. Where she was no one knows. Trust me, I understand that restaurants are short-staffed; however, this particular restaurant appeared to be the most disorganized mess around and it showed in the staff, the food, and in the manager. Arrived back to our VRBO and my husband told me they cancelled our reservation at 7:40 p.m. though we were there and finishing our dinner at 7:40 p.m. We will not be giving this restaurant a second chance during our stay in the area.

Shade Shack delivery to Higgins Beach Inn is awesome! It’s so easy and the food is delivered right to the beach, so you don’t even have to get your shoes on or leave the beach. Delivery is prompt and the food is delicious!

Shade Shack’s delivery service to the beach is quick and convenient! The food is great and you can enjoy it without having to leave the beach!

Had an excellent dinner here! Good food, drink, and service. Will be coming back.
