First timer. Nice place. Large and clean. Lots of parking. Fast and friendly service. Recommended to us by a friend who goes here often while on vacation. Not the best lobster roll ever see Red's Eats but a pretty good one at a fair price given the current economy. My wife said the tartar sauce was the BEST she'd ever tasted. It was stellar. The fried clams were excellent, not greasy at all. The french fries were particulary good. Enjoy Ken's if you are in the area. Worth the visit.
Really good seafood, I tried the fried Haddock dinner and it was on point. Home made Tatar sauce was perfect. Definitely will come back again. The seating areas inside and outside were very clean. Plenty of parking in the front and out back, which is great considering I came in May at 2pm on a Friday and there were about 35 cars in the front parking area, can't imagine how busy this place gets in the summer time.
I think this is 4 stars based off of what I ordered rather than what Kens is capable of serving. If it's convenient for me I plan on going back and trying either the fried haddock sandwich or something else flavorful. The good: while busy, they have a big parking lot and seem to serve food relatively quickly. The meh: I wanted something light, so I ordered a Haddock Sandwich, baked. It was good but plain. That's kinda how "baked" works though. I *DO* wish they offered blackened. The bad: the way they've structured the line to order is haphazard. Very popular.
Got a grilled chicken salad and my husband had the baked haddock. Both delicious and fresh! We were able to eat outside at the picnic tables with our dog. How nice it is to find a dog friendly place to eat!
This is my favorite place to eat when we come up to OOB/Scarborough a couple times every year. Fantastic food, and even when the place is packed the service is fantastic. Best whole belly clams I’ve ever had get the crumb!, but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The chicken nuggets homemade are my daughter’s favorite meal too. Something for everyone at Ken’s Place!
Have eaten here many times when in Maine. Just delicious plus the service, provided by smiling staff, is tremendous. It is the pinnacle of efficiency. Quite a landmark. Stop in, you’ll love it.
Was excited to try Kens last night but it did not live up. Clam chowder had great flavor, but didn’t find many clams. The scallops were the worst- chewy, breading falling off, & super greasy. Unfortunately we will never go back again. A waste of $80. Tip for anyone not from the New England area wanting quality food- get off the main drag and out of OOB a bit. We usually travel down to Wells but this time decided to try something different and closer to us & it was a mistake.
Very popular local fried seafood spot. It's just mediocre, in my opinion. The coleslaw is underdressed, the onion rings overdressed, almost like a frozen store bought. My lobster roll was very good, and the take out packaging was excellent. I've had the fried clams before, which were also good.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: Yes
The food was great, the only complaint is you seem to get clam bellies in with your order of clam strips. The bellies aren't horrible but at times found them less than appetizing. Will Def come here again when I go back to Maine
Pros - great menu selection, good hours of operation, restrooms are clean, easy to find a spot to sit. Lobsters are pretty good. Ice cream with brownie is humongous. Friendly staff. Cons - fried clam strips were not flavorful, clam chowder tasted like heavy cream, it was okay. Overall not outstanding but will be back to try other things.
